@EatWell : Speak for your local Wal Mart only; my rural Arizona WM hasn't been fully stocked since March.  We finally got some variety of paper products 3 weeks ago.  Safeway (our only other local option) isn't much better.  I laugh when OP said only one package of TP at Costco because I'm sure that she means their usual giant size!

Supposedly the fabric used for Clorox wipes is the same as what is used for PPE that hospital staff wear...so that’s why the shortage, according to CEO of Clorox. I am skeptical since I have not seen any cleaning wipes of any brand.
Almost every cleaning or paper product has a much higher prices than they did in March.

In case you run out:

  • Before the advent of modern toilet paper many different materials were used for the same purposes. Different materials were used depending upon the country, weather conditions, social customs and status. People used leaves, grass, ferns, corn cobs, maize, fruit skins, seashells, stone, sand, moss, snow and water.

Yes.  You are right.  I guess not in all Walmart's.  YMMV.

I live in a large urban, not rural community.  There is no problem finding anything I want or need.  Walmart, Target, CVS, Hone Depot, Ace Hardware, mom and pop grocery and general merchandise stores, etc. all have some of essential products.  If I need something, I can find it.

Good luck to you..  I hope you find your TP.    TP is an important must have .  😁

Eureka! Eureka! TP! TP!

@EatWell    Thanks but I have plenty of TP.  I also have every single store you mentioned within 5 miles of my house + more.

Availability of various items has come and gone repeatedly in my area since this started.

Every single time I've been in stores, there have been shortages of something, some times more things than others.

In my experience it has rotated from TP and paper towels, to canned vegetables and fruits, to odd things like completely empty pudding sections for weeks on end. Meat supplies have come and gone, and this week was the first week my Sam's club actually had reasonably full cases again, but several weeks now, absolutely no bacon (but lots of other pork products).  It has also varied by store, some better stocked overall than others.

Sam's TP and paper towels has been hit or miss. Even in the worst of the shortage, one day they would have tons, then the next, none, even with limits.

Some companies have reduced their lines of products. Like certain flavors of soda are gone at least for now, and some of the lesser selling lines of brands are on hold. Many companies are focusing on filling orders for only their best selling lines or limiting lines of products to comply with Covid guidelines and still keep products going into stores.

I follow several facebook groups that deal with stocking, and many people are stocking for longer periods of time, many people who never stocked ahead are now doing so. Governments (like federal and some states) are filling warehouses with food (there are articles on Washington state's program to be found on the internet), and adding to the shortage/panic.

I expect for at least the next year there will be shortages, supply interruptions, and changing availability of goods of all kinds.

My philosophy is that if I feel I will need it in the next year, I focus on getting it when I see it.

I can't believe people hoard these supplies.  It is NOT necessary.  It presents more problems in the long run.

I have only done grocery pickups since March, but things have been much better lately.  Guess I should stock while the getting is good.

If I see paper towels, toilet paper, and napkins I'll buy because you never know when you'll see them again.
