We have one about 10 miuntes from home so we go about every 2 months or so. I like their unique foods. I like their orange chicken, their rice in the frozen area is good for when you want to just microwave some rice. It comes in a box of 3. There's white, Spanish and another kind. I like their Cheetos (store brand). They have a good cheese selection too. We also get some different sauces too. I suggest going when they open cuz the stores are small. In fact ours is so busy they are moving into a larger store sometime next year.  I know ALDIs and Trader Joe's are owned by brothers and I much prefer Trader Joe's. Not impressed with Aldi at all. I don't understand the draw of ALDIs.

Aldis and Trader Joes are inindependent businesses. They are not the same in any way. They may have been startec by people who are related to each other but they are  not associated in any way..

TJ has great plant, flower, wine selections great cheese salads unique dips chips snacks sauces a lot of fun items during the holidays and a great freezer section. Aldi's is a No Frills low price off-brand selections of items grocery and selected one time buys of kitchen and home items that can be very interesting.

Re: Shopping at Trader Joes (Tips)

Hello!! @monicakm 🤗

It’s a really neat store! I used to shop there weekly for a number of years prior to the Pandemic. About a 45 minute drive. We got so used to Instacart delivery during the Pandemic that now we order our groceries and go pick them up at our local stores instead.

The fresh flowers are way nicer with unique combinations. Very reasonable prices!

The produce is Always fresh and you can find things like fresh figs and specialty produce items that you don’t see at other stores.

I bought their organic chicken and meats. And even organic hamburg patties in the freezer section.

They have healthy treats for dogs too, with only a few ingredients versus a long list of fillers.

The Bakery section is filled with delicious desserts and fresh breads! Never a bad choice there.

If you’re a coffee drinker you can grind your own beans in their machines. The store always smells nice because of it.

I still use their canvas grocery bags. They are very well made, inexpensive and you can machine wash & dry them. The bags are kept near the cash registers, usually hanging on the wall for purchase.

When you go though you don’t need to bring your own bags. They will use their paper grocery bags with handles. If you’re familiar with Target they are similar bags.

They have their own nut and chocolate spread in a jar that is hugely popular!

They also have a section of clear tubs with all sorts of chocolates and nuts. Yummy!!

If you’re looking for Unique food items and even non food items Trader Joe’s is the place to go!!

Have a FUN time !! 🤗🤗🤗

@Shelbelle I agree. Their frozen pot stickers are great and only take a few minutes to heat up.  Their nuts are the best both raw and dry roasted.  I got a bag of dry roasted macadamia nuts for only $8.99 and they were delicious.  I also get raw hazel nuts and brazil nuts.  I love their cheese selection too.  Their butter is always reasonably priced.  I buy bags of naval oranges there and they have a good selection of well priced fruits and vegetables.  I usually go there about once a week.  We have a Whole Foods near the Trader Joes and I buy meat there.

Re: Shopping at Trader Joes (Tips)

I hate to admit it since I longed for one for awhile, but we finally got one nearby and I would say it's not all that.  Don't get me wrong.  I make a point of going every few months to get the things I like.

I find a lot of their items are cheap versions of things that you can find elsewhere.  Also, they have a tendency to discontinue favorite items.  I think they may do it to keep interest since they also usually add new items.  Still, if there's an item you really like, it's very disappointing for it to disappear from the shelves.  It's also more noticeable to me probably because I'm on a Favorite Trader Joes's Facebook page.

I agree about the eggs, but it rarely works out that I need eggs at the time that I go.  Their Hatch Chili Mac & Cheese is popular.  It's in the freezer section.  One pkg is 2 servings so works out for us as a side.  I also like the Brownie Coffee Crisp Ice Cream Sandwiches, although they're tiny.

Re: Shopping at Trader Joes (Tips)

I have a Trader Joe's about 5 minutes away. I do most of my shopping there. Their produce and fruit is exceptional. They have a container of chopped celery, onions, and carrots--I use often. Eggs,

cream cheese, organic butter, Vegetable fried rice is delicious! (frozen)

A lot of their crackers and snacks do  not have a lot of junk in the ingredients-(like other brands) around Christmas they have a lot of

cakes, candy, cookies you can't find anyplace else.

Give it a try!
