Where is the list of almost daily mass shootings that happened prior to the "24 hour news cycle" started reporting them?

Please check.  I posted two links.

FYI - CNN started in 1980.

You can go online but here you go.  I think you have forgotten about the shooting in Norway.  That was a big one.

From the Wikipedia  article you linked:

The United States has had more mass shootings than any other country in the post-WWII era.

Re: Shooting Near El Paso, Texas Mall

There are no weekly or even yearly mass shootings on that "list". Only sporadic shootings over the course of several years.

[ Edited ]

Not all mass shooters are mentally ill.

We MUST get past that thought, if we are to make any headway in slowing down (you'll never eliminate mass shooting 100%, but you can reduce it) these shootings.

There are a LOT of angry people out there.

What's that line from some movie that came out in the 70's?

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"

Well, there are a lot of people who are mad as hell, and guess what?

They're not going to take it any more.

That is NOT a mental illness.

Now, before anyone goes twisting my words, let me make this 100% absolutely crystal clear.

IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM DO I IN ANY CAPACITY THINK SHOOTING PEOPLE IS OKAY.

IT IS ONE QUADRILLION PERCENT WRONG TO SHOOT PEOPLE!

But to say that any mass shooter is mentally ill, is just a quick, easy way to put a nice pretty bow on a problem, and to make someone feel better.

Statistics show that people who truly are mentally ill, rarely go on shooting sprees.

They are more likely to hurt themselves, than they are to take out a whole stadium full of innocent people.

Please take you anger out elsewhere.

Your opinion on automatic weapons is YOUR opinion and I have not stated MINE.

I never even hinted that CNN "invented" mass killings.

Your attempt to put words in my mouth is futile.

People with guns kill.

It is no longer an  issue of blaming mental illness for every act of violence.  There is an epidemic of hate escalating in this country. It needs to be called out and called what it is. Terrorism. Not mental illness.  Terrorism.

Hatred has existed since man has existed.

Now, we have a 24-hour news cycle that celebrates it.

You just think there has been an escalation.  No.  You just hear about it more.

@alarmclock

We've had mass shootings going on in this country on an almost daily basis before the news reported it?

SMH.

Quick.  Tell me the first time we had a mass shooting.

Can you do that?

Probably not because you do not remember how long ago it happened.

It's been decades.  Like over forty years ago.

A man shot up a McDonald's.  That was the first time it "made the news" and it was well before the 24 hour channels we now have.

What do you need to have explained?

@alarmclock

I don't need to have anything explained.

I asked you a question.  You didn't answer it.  That's because you don't have one.

I did not understand your question because there wasn't one.

Ending a statement with a question mark is not a question.
