Why would someone target this festival? The world has just gone crazy.

Just aired, 5 dead, some transported to Stanford and OMG, a couple shot were kids.

I am just as shocked as everyone else.
When the story first broke on CNN (I was watching their program on movies. Tonight it was movies of the 70's. but I digress), they said that there was a shooting as a festival in Northern California.
I was like, "Not Gilroy! Not Gilroy!"
Then CNN said it was at a food festival, and again I was like, "NOT GILROY!!! NOT GILROY!!!"
Then they said that it was at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, "NOT THE GILROY GARLIC FESTIVAL!!!"
I was shocked and saddened to hear that such a senseless tragedy happened at a place that's known for fun and great tasting food.

Is this an ethnically diverse area?

I am so sorry. I do hope and pray that they'll be okay.

My nephew was there. He said he was safe on Facebook. The world is going mad.

We are pretty diverse. Gilroy was a farming community, now not so much...but we do have a few farms left. we were named after John Gilroy, a scotsman who left ship in Monterey and wandered to the land grant here. he married into the Spanish Land grant which is now San Benito, Morgan Hill and Gilroy. they were Spanish. He had 17 kids, and many of the decendants are here in Gilroy today. here is the population breakdown 60.6 hispanic, 29.3 white, 6.62 asian, 1.48 african american, 1.48 alaskan native

One of the shooters is dead. However, there is at least one, possibly two, more.
The area is pretty much diverse. I assume Gilroy is much like my city and all cultures get along.
