It appears that he used to wear a toupee on air.  Hard to believe this is Letterman!  If I were his wife, I don't think I'd care much for that beard.

Whatever Dave  does is ok with me. I miss seeing him on Late night, and though the new guys are fine, in my opinion Dave was the gold standard.He didn't kiss up to the celebrities, and he insisted that they bring something to the party. Grow that beard Dave!!

I admit I was surprised when I saw the pix.  Not a fan of the beard.

Does anyone know if his mother is still alive?  I used to like the segments when she was featured with him.
