Not a bad gift for a 12 yr old!

It is a beautiful ring.

As I remember from reading a bio of her, George Temple was in banking but he mismanaged ST's money and she found out at 18 that her money was gone.  I don't remember any implication that he stole it or used it, just that he made poor decisions.

The parents actually lied to her about her age.  On some late-childhood birthday cake when her child-career was winding down, they let her know by placing the correct number of candles--13 instead of 12.

•  What a beautiful ring. Shirley Temple certainly did deserve it. I guess she never had much of a childhood being in show business making movies. It's sad that some of the parents do with their famous children's money how they squander it and the worst part is its still being done in today's time. But I think they are passing laws now that puts a stop to it.
