I have written before about my adoption of a kitten, whom we named Neville. I said I was crazy because I already had 5 kitties.

Well, he was a wonderful addition. My daughter took to "mothering" him. He's been a real delight.

This morning I got up to find his breathing abnormal, and we took him to the vet right away. He collapsed while they were trying to get a chest x-ray.

He passed away from a severely enlarged heart.

He had been examined by our vet after we adopted him, and the shelter had him for several vet checks as well.

We are stunned, and my poor daughter is heartbroken. He spent most of the night with me on the couch, as I fell asleep there. Geez, I am shell shocked.

I wanted to add I feel at least we gave him a loving life in a home, despite the brevity of his little life.
