Shahs of Sunset-Question for anyone who knows

I have not watched consistently but watched finale last night-they all make reference to them and their families being from Persia/Iran, etc. My question is how did it come about that they are all very wealthy? It seems that they are well to do and all of their families are-just wondering how they went from fleeing their respective countries with nothing and then here they have so much. If anyone knows I would appreciate it.
