One wall of our living room is all glass sliding doors. Wonderful when the sun is shining and the lake is beautiful BUT we just heard the weather radio go off and I looked out there - HOLY COW! It is black as night and the trees are bent in half from the wind, as well as the fountain on the lake is blowing sideways. The palm trees are really blowing too.Thundering now. I am not really afraid of storms but I can't say I like them either. At least in our very modern storm resistant Florida home it isn't as bad as in the camper when we are in Pittsburgh. In that camper we actually hear every raindrop and the thunder sounds like it is right in the room with you.

I understand- it can be really exciting and frightening at the same time - be safe!

I pretty much live in our 4 season all glass patio room. It is all glass sliding doors except where the AC/Heat Pump is located.
Wanted ceiling to floor glass sliding doors for the view of blizzards and even watching the high wind and lightening storms. Also wanted our felines to be able to lie on the floor and see everything.
We don't live on a lake, but we do have a couple hundred huge trees. What I don't like is our local TV stations taking over a DVR program with almost half of the screen telling me there MIGHT be a thunderstorm. Who cares?
Seems nowadays if the wind gets over 10mph they want to issue a WARNING. I remember the days when it had to be a Tornado Watch or a Tornado Warning before they would plaster this nonsense on a screen.
WInter/Spring/Summer/Fall always an unnecessary rain warning. Reminds me of the kid that "Cried Wolf" 1 time too many. Gets so nobody pays attention. Rain Warnings? Please.

I couldn't agree more. Weather on the local news is too long and over-the-top. They give you way too much information. The only time I'll tune in is when I've heard elsewhere that a significant event is coming, or has come. Otherwise, the only forecasts I need are online. Sorry, Talking Heads.

I have to disagree strongly with you both.
We live rural, and in an area prone to flooding, so we are always aware and paying attention to the weather. We also live not too far from a strip that several tornadoes have run, in the last several decades.
Even with the warning and better forecasting, people still die by the thousands in this country every year due to weather related incidents. If missing a regularly scheduled program saves lives, I can live with that.
We have sustained heavy property damage due to storms a couple of times in the 20+ years we have lived here. Warnings and tracking of the severe storms on tv, as they follow with the radar and time out the storm for arrival in each area, are very welcome here.

@ValuSkr , @hckynut I disagree also......
I am here in NJ and we have been battered with very strong winds for a couple of days now. They are so very strong that a man from my town was blown off the roof, to his death, of an apartment house he was inspecting for "wind damage" Very sad imo. You are lucky if you consider your own weather boreing

We've had high winds here in SE PA the last couple days too. But I could see that by listening, and driving in my car, and looking out the window. I don't need the Talking Heads to analyze it six ways to Sunday. If I need more information I can look it up on the web. Sad about the man in Teaneck; I believe they're still trying to determine if he was blown off or if something else caused him to fall.

We had a hail warning so DH went out and brought the car in - thank goodness because we had quarter size hail a few mion later.

I remember thunderstorms...I think we had one 5 or 6 years ago. This time of year we have high winds almost every day but they're dry and we really need some rain.

Blowing dirt where I am........We could use a good gully-washer......57 days without rain.
