Interesting discussion. The boy has epilepsy and the dog can detect when he's about to have seizures - which can then be prevented by use of a magnet.
The school won't allow the dog without a handler due to safety issues. Mom says there are no safety issues - except those of her son without the dog.
Currently the school is sending teachers to his home to homeschool him, but Mom wants him back in school.
Not sure what I think about this. I can see the school's point. While Mom says the dog won't do anything the boy doesn't tell him to do, I wonder what could happen if the dog thought the boy was being threatened by another student. Also, altho the boy is 12, he is cognitively not at that level and it's questionable if he could handle the dog himself if he needed to.
