Serena has won 3 slams this year and been #1 for quite some time. There is no way Venus needs to let her win. Venus was a good player in the past but lately has been losing in early rounds. If Venus wins it would be more likely Serena tanked rather than viceversa.

Venus has an autoimmune disease.  I remember when she disclosed her illness.  Illness or not, she is STILL in fantastic shape and has played a good game.

I didn't know that!  Sjogren's.  Wow.  Venus is amazing, that's for sure.

@NoelSeven  The same as my sister.

Whoa !!! What a match !!!

Anyone who thinks that Venus wasn't playing to win isn't a fan of either of these phenomenal athletes. ; )

Re: Serena v Venus @ the Open

Venus and Serena played an excellent game tonight!  No one tanked.  How utterly disgusting that so many people believe that Venus would take or allow Serena to win. Clearly, those that think this way know nothing about their professionalism and honesty as well as their willingness to view each other as worthy opponents when playing against the other.  Further, all of the former professional tennis players that now serve as analysts and commentators were unanimous in their assessments that each sister played to win and played in an excellent and competitive manner.

For those that "can't stand" Serena or think that the two sisters have received too much media coverage, then explain why you would bother to watch the match?  Why can't you celebrate the tremendous caliber of tennis of which both sisters are capable.  Very few athletes are able to dominate their sport in the manner that Serena has done, especially at her age.  Venus and Serena are keeping the American presence alive in international tennis ranks.

I celebrate them for all they have accomplished on and off the field.  They are women whose fame is justifiably merited based solely on their achievements and not family connections, sexualized personas, or cheating.  They are true stars and a credit to humanity!  I hope that Selena makes sports history; and if she does, it will be on the basis of merit!

Venus hasn't been a consistent match for Serena in a long time.  Had she miraculously upset her sister's chance to sweep the circuit, I do not think Daddy Williams would have been happy.

Bold #1 - Like the commentators or analyists would say anything negative? Hardly. LOL!

Bold #2 - because we wanted to see if our prediction about Venus was correct, and it was.
