At some point in every athlete's career, he or she must face the fact that their best years are in the past. Especially for Serena, who never really came back fully after the blood clot/ childbirth, I believe that she will probably retire very soon. She has said she wants to have another baby, and I just think it's probably time to consider that it's a new phase in her life without tennis.She nearly died from the blood clot, and if she does get pregnant again, they will probably be watching her very very carefully. She won't need the stress of competition on top of that.

Of course, it's over now and Williams did, in fact, lose... And while it's true some people are idiots... one of the media outlets did indicate before the match that one of her coaches had expressed his concern that Markle's presence would be a distraction... Who knows if that was actually said... Either way, at her level, I suspect she's not that easily distracted...
