Selling sterling serving pieces, flatware, etc.

Have any of you ever sold sterling pieces like flatware, bowls, platters, etc?

My sister and I are thinking about selling some pieces that were passed down to us. Some belonged to our mom. We had her full blessing to sell the things we weren't going to use.

I just don't have the type lifestyle that calls for formal pieces. We also have a sterlin silver tea service. That thing is huge. It belonged to my great aunt.

I've found a few places locally that will buy them. I haven't gotten to the "what's the price" stage yet. Just wondered if if any of you have done this.


Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
