My husband loves them. I never use them.

No, I don't use the self check out. Some how or other some thing goes awry and I need to wait for the helper to fix it.

I prefer to have my order rung up by a cashier, it's just my personal choice. That said, I went to a local Walmart a few days ago, all I saw were self checkout stations so I had no choice but to check myself out.

Absolutely NO to self-checkouts.
I'm not getting paid by the store to be their cashier.

@Havarti I much prefer to have them do it for me. They also bag it for me at the places I go. Today I went to Target, and I only had two items so I was going to use self check-out anyway. They only had one regular check-out lane open though, which would have been very irritating if I had a lot of items.

I don't use it if I have a lot of produce. I struggle with scanning fruits and vegetables, and just prefer letting the checkers do it.

There is Publix store close to me that just opened 4 self-check out lines. I was there about 8:30 last night and there was 1 staffed check out and the 4 self check outs. If you know Publix this type of set-up is really against their customer service initiative. Well I used the self-checkout because the other had a line. I had trouble with the machine and could not hear it. The girl had to come over to unlock the machine because I purchased ice and did not bag it . I told her that I felt like I was in wal-mart and did not like these machines. I did not like it, I use it in walmart because I pretty much have to. Publix, no I don't think it is a great idea.

We shop once a week with an over flowing cart, so we go in the regular check out with cashier. But my husband always bags so we get out faster! Yes we shop together, because i can't lift over a 1/2 gallon container anymore due to spine issues. (the only time we use self check out is if we run in for 1 or 2 things, which is rare). I might add, I've always hated grocery shopping, Id have rather cleaned the entire house than shop (and I used to work in food management AT a major chain grocery store lol).

Just recently left a management position at the store with the bullseye. I was one of the front end managers and I will tell you that the self-checkout lanes are here to stay. There is definately a push to open fewer registers. One person assigned to the bank of self-checkout lanes vs. one to one on registers.
The orders that come through the registers are huge and take quite a long time to ring and bag. People are doing several categories worth of shopping. Don't get me started on the app.
We have fewer and fewer shopping choices and the lines are here to stay as retailers cut back on cashiers. In addition, it is harder and harder to find people to work.
I personally do more and more mail order as I do not enjoy the shopping experience at this point. We are a nation of stuff and more stuff.
