It can be so hard to stay in shape. Doing the "diet and exercise" thing can really take a lot of devotion. The worst is when you feel like you've put in so much work only to find out that you've remained at the same weight or God forbid put on some more pounds. Here are a list of 8 or so habits that seem effortless but help you in the battle of the bulge. Please add any more that you feel will be helpful. Or provide your own experience when it com s to following these tips.
1.Eat breakfast
2.Eat a lot of protein
3.Drink water
4.Talk walks whenever possible
5.Weigh yourself daily
6.Keep a food journal
7.Eat an early dinner
8.Chew your food well
9. Sleep 6-8 hours
I really think diets need to be individualized. Not everyone needs the same nutrients and some people do poorly on blanket statement programs. Personally, I do intermittent fasting...Dr. Jason Fung addresses it and I find it helps to give me more energy. I rarely if ever eat breakfast. It just makes me hungry. And now I try to eat plants over high protein. I weigh myself daily because I always have...

I totally agree with this list.

The real secret is to count calories in....and move more.

I totally agree with this list except for the avocados--there are enough good fats in the ice cream and oreos

I think a weekly weigh-in is best.

The avocado will cancel out the bad fats (you know they are) in the ice cream and oreos. Can't speak for the sugar.

I have been really watching my carbs these last few weeks and THAT has been a real eye opener--have lost 3 pounds doing that very thing in as many weeks. Also dividing your plate, no matter what size it is, into 3 parts really works for me.---1/2 the plate is for veggies, 1/4 for carbs, 1/4 for protein. Sorry if I got carried away
I drink a pitcher of herbal/decaf ice tea every 2 days. Much better than plain water.
So simple, yet so effective.

I assume by "carbs" you mean starches like rice, pasta. Veggies are mostly carbohydrates, as are fruits.
BUT, this plan is very effective. Many people really don't know what a portion is, or what their body energy requirements actually are.

I used to subscribe to the motto "everything in moderation." However, I fairly recently came to realize that I don't do well with everything and therefore, I just can't have it. There are things that I want and if they are in the house and I eat 1, then I eat more and more and more. I can't just have 1 piece of bite size candy. I want 5 pieces and if the bag is in the house, I will go for more.
I have to totally eliminate trigger foods altogether. If the junk isn't in the house, after a few days I don't want it anymore and don't think about it. But I have to stay off it. Because if I go somewhere and have something sweet, it starts me on a bender.

^^^^ This right here! Expend more calories than you take in and you will lose weight. As simple as that. No tricks. No gimmicks. No fads.
Expend the same amount you take in = maintain weight
Expend less than you take in = gain weight
That.is.it.
