@gertrudecloset wrote:@Spurt The poor service from USPS is not black and white. People have begged their online stores to lower shipping costs. When they do, it means it's going to take longer to get your package. This didn't just happen with QVC packages. They relegate these packages to a particular tier of service and they don't move as quickly as other options that cost more. It's a simple case of you get what you pay for as far as shipping goes.
Now, the in stock, bacorder, still preparing notations that everyone complains about might not have a thing to do with USPS.
Your right, its a complicated issue, Im not just talking about QVC's problems....but as a consumer one wonders how some companies can offer BOTH good prices and reasonable shipping, while others offer UNREASONABLE shipping costs.....The answer is instead of SALES, some companies rely on SHIPPING CHARGES to make their profit and this is the WRONG APPROACH!!! These companies usually wind up in financial trouble and continue struggling and many end up going out of business!!!
Also, another issue is when UPS started handing off their packages to USPS Mail Innovations and thats when a lot of problems started....the packages just sit at a Regional Office for a week or more sometimes...USPS doesnt have the staff to keep up with it all.....If USPS cant handle this extra work volume that they begged for maybe they shouldnt have accepted the contract and its created more problems than it's worth!!!
.............Personally Id rather pay a bit more, IF THE PRICE IS RESONABLE!!! and have UPS handle my package deliveries!!! Im not a fan of Amazon but many many many people are happy to pay for Prime Delivery too, and they also enjoy the other perks that come with it as well...But I will say this, $12 to ship a handbag is a bit much ..... but Id pay $8 to have it shipped UPS instead of $3.50 or $5.50 to have it go through USPS MAIL INNOVATIONS!! I guess each person has different expectations but I still feel that USPS also creates LOTS of its OWN PROBLEMS too!---inefficiency and too many mistakes are being made!!! JMHO

I actually did this with another item that first was "in process" to "preparing my order" then to "backorder". After I upgraded shipping it too shipped out. This was 2 days ago.
It's a shame that you can't be guaranteed to get what you order and that upgraded shipping somehow magically makes these items appear!
That's because you paid for a better package rate. The rate they have now for most things of $3.50 is the lowest handling tieir the USPS can give them. It's a parcel rate that you have to sit around and wonder about. Upgraded shipping charges always speed things up @busymom22 . So it sounds like you paid the first amount of shipping (whatever that amount was) and an extra amount of $7.00.
Or, did you get a refund of the original shipping amount? If not then maybe your shipping charges were about $10.50.
My point was not about the speed of shipping but to just get your items shipped at all.
I know many have posted how their items have gone from "in process" to "backordered" and then even "cancelled".Or their item will go to "backordered" but then QVC will present that item again for "in stock" shipping. There seems to be no commitment to shipping orders others have placed earlier which I think is a problematic way of doing business and can alienate their otherwise loyal customers.
I'm not advising that people upgrade shipping like I did. I just realized it's one way to get an item you really want because it allows you to "jump the line" ahead of others who ordered with regular shipping.
@busymom22 , I fully understand what you were saying and what you did. You upgraded your shipping. Simple. We don't need a PhD to determine that by you upgrading (paying more) for your package to be delivered ~ is the thing that got your package out the door quicker. It was an upgrade, after all.
I don't think you were suggesting others do likewise, and I certainly didn't mention it. The information you gave is applicable to many websites that charge for shipping. Different tiers (i.e., overnight, 2nd dair air; three day delivery and standard). I get it. You pay extra for that convenience though.
The decor item that I finally received was ordered April 16th. I talked several times to QVC and they said the item was out of stock which is why there was no update on my order. I truly believe that if I had not upgraded my shipping I would have never received the item at all. Many are getting their items backordered or cancelled while somehow others (who probably ordered later) are getting their shipments.

@busymom22 that's just wild. Really. So you're little $3.50 shipping charge isn't as important as the orders you have upgraded with shipping? @Spurt Complicated is not the word for it. Wonder if they're sorry they closed a warehouse yet?

I believe their warehouses and inventories are messed up. That's why you have buyers with orders that go to "backordered" at the same time that item is presented on tv again as "in stock". An upgrade in shipping just prioritizes an item to ship regardless of who else ordered before that.

@novamc1 wrote:I had an experience that might inform others.
Returned something to QVC using included postpaid return label and dropped off at the post office.
QVC usually knows thru tracking when USPS has processed and is sending back the package, and I usually get a QVC email saying the return is on is way to them. This time I didn't, even after days went by.
Called QVC which reported no record of the package being sent back to them, Called the postmaster, and without having to check anything, he said that all return parcels (probably hundreds of them, based on the daily pile of packages that I've seen when dropping mine off) had not yet been picked up from their location.
I asked him: not picked up in a week? He said yes.
I guess this is just another example of USPS reducing its service. I recall reading that the U.S. Postmaster General spoke before Congress recently, saying "we need to reduce the customer's expectations of what service levels we can provide".
@novamc1 Though I am not of fan of the USPS for many reasons, I don't believe in placing blame where it shouldn't be.
The USPS is NOT at fault for those packages being stuck. It is 100% the fault of QVC. This has been a serious issue for years and discussed in the Customer Care section over and over. Bottom line, QVC hires a THIRD PARTY VENDOR FOR RETURNS. They pick up based on WEIGHT. So, you drop them off at USPS but they MUST STAY THERE UNTIL the Third Party Vendor stops by and USPS CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. This is the contract QVC signed with USPS and the Third Party Vendor. USPS hates it because packages lie around and they are stuck with the complaints plus the room being lost to the packages. QVC does NOT care. This is a business decision and it's not going anywhere. If YOU choose to return it via the USPS system and PAY up front for it, then yes, USPS is the shipper from start to finish. Otherwise, they are simply the drop off point.

@FiddleDeeDee quoting you here: ".....QVC signed with USPS and the Third Party Vendor. USPS hates it.....
Then some of the blame belongs to the USPS as well. Had they not signed such a contract to begin with this would not be a issue. I guess they will rethink how they do business. Everyone involved in package fulfillment at this point, is to blame. All three signed a contract and it stipulated how things would work.
