Re: Second Pfizer vaccination scheduled for17 days after the first??

Wonderful that many of you are scheduled for or have received your second shot, no matter the time frame. Florida has just opened vaccine availability to all those age 60 and over with no restrictions as to health or occupation. Problem is there are still millions of us here who are in our 70's and 80's and have not yet been able to schedule our first shot. We were supposed to be in group 1b, directly behind health care workers, but of course things are not working out that way.

@wonderfulworld, as the day goes on, I'm feeling more comfortable with it.  I just hadn't heard of the flexibility of the interval.

The advice about not taking any painkillers is BEFORE the vaccine. I am under the impression that it fine to take something afterwards if needed.

@CJC, that is really a shame. Is your state opening up also?

Re: Second Pfizer vaccination scheduled for17 days after the first??

@FatCatinCT, so are you going to keep the appointment date as is?  Right this minute, I think I'll keep mine at 17 days.  But I keep changing my mind, minute by minute.  Because after all of the online registering and phone calls for appointments, we want the best outcome.  I want to go see my grandkids.  Even if I wear a mask, I'll feel better knowing I have that layer of protection.  I'm 73 and waiting this out might not be an option.

I would not even think 4 days earlier would be a big deal.

@Mmsfoxxie

i'm so glad you are feeling better

you should feel relief instead of being anxious

but deep breath and it is going to be okay

my 92 yr old mom got her first pfizer shot last week and the online schedule her 2nd dose automatically 4 weeks later instead of 3 - i spoke to the pharmacist and they can't change it - the default is 4 weeks  - go figure

sigh....

@CJC , that's just sad, not to mention wrong.  Seniors don't need that frustration.  I'm hearing that some registering must be online and quite a few seniors don't know zilch about how to do it.  Smh.

Everything has been open for a good while. It's all about bringing in tourist $ here. I will say that in my area of Tampa most people are being considerate and masking in stores, a good thing. I have been trying to book vaccine appt. for 90 year old neighbor and 79 year old hubby, but no luck. If you don't live in a 55+ retirement community where the vaccine is brought to your golf clubhouse for a photo op, booking appt. is difficult. The state pretends to be ahead of other states by opening appts to lower age groups, but unfortunately it has been done at the expense of those seniors in the upper age brackets.

@Yahooey, omg!  That sound like a default for Moderna, not Pfizer.  We can only pray that they know what they're doing!  I hope your mom gets through it without side effects.
