It just started snowing again in Kirkland.

It's been lightly snowing here for over an hour. It looks like we're going to get a few more inches. It's warmed up, so it could snow quite a bit.

I'm still amazed at the forecast on the front page of my computer (Accuweather?) It's changed every single time I've looked at it. Now I see snow for several hours, then rain, then sun, then more snow.

Re: Seattle area upcoming snowmageddon...

Started here about an hour ago with a couple pretty good wind gusts.

Not sure you can compare east of the Cascades to the west side. Its a given it is always much colder in the winter and much warmer in the summer on your side of the mts. Everything I have read (I just did a google search) says Spokane averages 45 inches a year where as Seattle averages 9.75 inches so it would suggest you would all be better prepared for this weather than we are here. Also Spokane is basically flat compared to Seattle and outlying areas, makes it much easier to get around.

The weather has become so weird. Once it was very predictable that winters here were cold and summers hot.  Not so much anymore. Often, it seems, we're within about 10 degrees, of the west side, in the winter, and sometimes, you're hotter, in the summer,  One good thing about summer, humidity is low, here; I, personally find that much more comfortable.

Seattle hills, would be a nightmare in snowy, icy conditions! We have some nasty hills here, but, they tend to be, among the first to get plowed, and no, we don't have hills on the scale of Seattle's.

We're fortunate, that we're surrounded by hills and mountains. Even when a bad storm comes thru, they tend to shield us from truly severe cold, and the kind od winds, that produce blizzards, in other parts of the country.

This has been a mild winter.  Until this current storm, very little snow.

Hey, it's February!  Spring is on the way, rightCat Happy

Re: Seattle area upcoming snowmageddon...

Our schools are closed.  They said if the forecasts are correct they could be closed through Wednesday.  Poor kids are going to be going to school all summer to make up the days!

Re: Seattle area upcoming snowmageddon...

We're getting a storm here in northern Maryland. It started last night and is expected to end tomorrow morning. County schools are closed so I'm off work. I have a feeling they'll close tomorrow and if so, that's the last allowed snow day so kids and teachers will be here mid June. I'm a 12 month clerical so I work in the summer and not affected by the snow day rules. My area was only supposed to get 1-2 inches and then go all ice but I think it's going to be more. Temps got colder than expected so it's all snow right now. This area generally gets a winter storm between Valentine's and President's Day. There's a snow emergency. Hard to believe so little snow could be so treacherous, but it's below freezing so roads are snow covered and slushy.
