Before we all jump for joy, what will they do with the Orcas that they currently have?  What will they do with the Orcas that may be born during the process?  It is my understanding that these creatures cannot be let go into the wild because they'd have no chance of survival.

Good questions. I think SW will release a statement about that in the near future.

I've always believed they belonged in their own natural habitat.  I would like the Orcas put back into the territories they came from, even those born in captivity.

Re: Sea World to Phase Out Killer Whale Show

very good news.

the ones they have now will have to be taken care of for the rest of their lives.  they would never be able to take care of themselves out in the wild and would be highly at risk.  they don't know any different, so they will be happy and healthy for their duration being fed and housed by humans.

Long before we knew about any issues, that Shamu Killer Whale show was the most amazing and beautiful show that Sea World presented.

Amen to this statement.  We went every year the girls were young to watch the show.  I would rather go to Sea World than Disneyany day.  No they can't survive in their natural habitat but we know agencies will ensure they are taken good care of.   We actually have a Shamu puppet nailed to one of our walls as it was a reminder of the girls using the puppets to talk to cars passing us on the interstate. What wonderful memories.
