according to Miami Herald this former student was known to school officials due to past behavior of threatening students. apparently there may be more to the story. we'll see.

Shep Smith said earlier they had "a lot of information" about the shooter but wouldn't release anything until after he had been officially identified (or maybe he said charged).

Did anyone see the interview with the county sheriff moments ago? He broke down completely, in frustration crying “A child of God is dead.” It was heartbreaking. He seemed to wonder why nothing is done.

I read that he is 19 year old Nicholas Cruz...a former student who apparently was banned from the school last year for threatening students.

I saw this when doing a search on Facebook. They are also reporting that there are about 50 injured...quite a difference from the original 14!

Disagree. We have enough gun laws on the books - they just aren't enforced! Mental illness is a big part of these shootings and this shooter's instagram page is most disturbing - but nothing was done about it!
We need ARMED police presence on every campus. This is the best deterrant we can have.
