@Enufstuff, I will be back tomorrow to answer our Part 2.
I am a bit upset - my dear friend living in a town outside Tampa insisting on not leaving ner home, This storm sounds horrible! She is a strong person, sometimes foo strong, I am a nervous wreck. she has been widowed for roughly 10 years and loves kitties. You would love her!

@PamfromCT That is too bad about your friend.
Does she not understand how dangerous it could be,if she ignores advice to evacuate?
If she did evacuate, would she be able to take her cats? If not, would that be her reason to stay?
The mayor of Tampa was on TV warning people to evacuate as this could be deadly. How close is your friend to Tampa? Can she be convinced to take the warnings seriously?
Is she aware of the devastation from Helene?
I hope that she will be safe.

Part II
Hello Donna,
Well, morning has broken, as the song goes. My friend is insisting she is staying at home, "because her house was built to withstand hurricanes." She lives in a condo community, she has two children, one up north and another in a southern state. This is what prayer exists for!
I am so very, very sorry for your challenges. Glad a few things - vertigo and pain in joints - did not seem to bother you when you went through your crisis with Katie. So happy your baby is doing well.
I am sorry about your kidney issues, but happy that you are drinking the amount of water you do. So many people do not and are igof bad effects.
And you have acclimated yourself to vertigo a few times a year. I sure there are reasons for that that are being researched. Glad you live close to Boston, where top care is!
Research is happening all the time, and I do hope you continue to get good medical care - and that there is more on the horizon.
You are so amazing - so sweet, talented in so many ways, and so much grace and. Fortitude with your medical problems.
Well, my back, I do believe, is getting worse. I had a back doctor for years. He retired, but I thought I would be ok. That was a few years back. I need someone to asses my situation.
Advise me what to do. I had PT once, and it was a big help, hears back. Exercises? What to do? what not to do. I will never have another shot in my back. My legs were numb afterward after my last shot, hears back. So my dreams of being a ballerina are over...
My heart is ok, for now. I do have an inherited valve defect that is supposed to be minor, and has stayed constant for ten years, when it was discovered. Well, I am 80, and I try my best. But when Our Lord calls me home, so be it. At this point, I am thinking the only way I will ever get to Italy is if I can be carted around in a wheel barrel.
Relating to Storm Helene, I am not sorry I wrote about wanting QVC to get involved in funding. Wow, the nastiness that ensued. from people I thought I had somewhat of a relationship with. Just disagree - no need to be nasty and hurtful.
I am so glad I never posted pics of my home and my art work - they really would have had a good time with that. You and the Preds people are the only people I will ever post with, ever. It was a shock, including the one who posts kitty pics every day. Oh well, I have never tried to get even. Ever.
I cannot believe the horror of that storm I saw on the weather channel. Said the force of water was equivalent to two
Niagara Falls. Have been to Niagara twice - cannot begin to imagine. And I think of the way ECBG described this area.
And the horror of this experience, the missing people, etc.
Not having food, water, etc. Weather channel explained many people lived up in the hills and came down into the town for their needs. And so many trapped in those hills.I kmow some young Womderful volunteers are going house to house to see who is there and who is missing, then spray paint results on the home.
Well, if this does not break someone's heart, they have no heart.
I am praying for you - for my friend in Florida. We went through so much together. Her DH, a wonderful person, was very sick for years before he died. It was Lewy Body Dementia. Awful. They had been high school sweethearts, and she took such wonderful care for him. He has been gone for 10 years.
But, you know? People like you are the fragrant beautiful flowers in my life
The pet insurance company is WAGMO. Worth looking imto!
Love,
Pam

@PamfromCT Hi Pam,
It must be such a relief, to know that your friend is safe after the hurricane. So many people have lost everything. Years ago, so many people moved to Florida, thinking that it would be paradise. Hurricanes, sinkholes, alligators, heat and humidity, you could not pay me to live in Florida.
My daughter in law's parents have a winter place in Vero Beach, which I know was hit by the hurricane. They stay in New Hampshire for the summer and fall. I'll have to call my son tomorrow to ask if they found out if their place in Florida has suffered any damage.
I'm sorry that your back is getting worse. It is true that getting old is not for sissies. It isn't fun. When were were young, healthy and pain free, we just took it for granted, not knowing what was ahead for us. Hopefully your heart valve will stay the same and not get worse. Health issues are a challenge.
This past week, I have spent a lot of time on my computer, looking at what has been going on with all the hurricane devastation. Imagine, six states being affected!
This has been the worst natural disaster that I have ever heard of in this country.
It will take a long time, years for many of those people to recover and to rebuild roads and homes. The loss of life has not even been fully reported yet, from Helene.
So many people are trying to help those affected. It is so sad that on top of losing their homes, so many no longer even have jobs, with so many businesses gone. Restoring power, water, roads and bridges will be priority to get back any sense of normalcy in the rural mountain areas of NC.
Shelter, blankets, coats and fuel for so many is needed , now that the weather is starting to get colder. Their whole world has turned upside down. It is such a living nightmare.
We who are living in safety, can pray for them and donate what we can.
Since the invasion of Ukraine, my favorite charity is
World Central Kitchen and they were among the first to go to
help feed people after Helene hit.
Many people in the Ashville area have said that Samaritan's Purse has been a great help to them. It is run by
Franklin Graham and the Graham family, descendents of Billy Graham. I will have to send something to them, also.
So many people and companies have sent donations and truckloads of water and supplies to help. They will be
needing help for a long time.
Thank you for the pet insurance information. I was thinking that an older cat could not be insured. It would probably cost more for an older cat, she's eight years old now. I will have to look into the cost, what they cover and if they would cover a cat that has kidney disease. She seems fine at this time. Hopefully special diet food will slow down the kidney disease, from getting worse.
I hope that your Winston is doing well and enjoying being spoiled. We can't help indulging our fur babies.
I don't know about my being a "fragrant beautiful flower", but you are so sweet and kind.
I enjoy our exchanges here in Community Chat.
Let's hope that in four weeks, we will be posting
about more positive things taking place, after all the
recent tragic events. I will always have hope for things
to be better. That is what keeps us going.
Have a lovely weekend.
Love,
Donna

Hello Donna!
I do hope you are doing ok as you navigate some health issues. I do think of you so much and decided I would post today.
Yes, the tragedy of terrible storms is so hard to imagine. unless we have personally experienced it - and I have not -
it is impossible to completely understand what these poor people have experienced. Inasmuch as I no longer watch news on tv, only reading a synopsis of what is going on, I did watch the weather channel on cable tv. I do hope and pray for all concerned, especially those who have lost loved ones.
But they all deserve everything we can do for them in all ways.
I do remember when Al Gore's book came out years ago. Yes,
an "Inconvenient Truth" was the butt of jokes and ridicule.
Well, global warning has come to pass, and we all have to live with it. It is all over the world. What a terrible legacy for our children.
I do think of all the challenges you have had, and all the physical difficulties you face, and admire so much your good attitude and determination. I hope your family is doing well, and that the beloved Miss Katie is fine. I wonder if you have had a chance to explore pet insurance?
Well, in my zeal to clean out our attic, there were a number of plastic bins of clothing that I expected would be donation appropriate. The problem of a big attic - what to do? Put it in the attic. Anyway, DH brought them down, and they were a 90% donation bonanza. So I washed, dried, and folded it all.
Refreshed wool items. Convenient, as my laundry is in our pantry off the kitchen.
Well, all the bending really affected my back. I called my PCP,
went in, and he ordered an z-ray - gladly, I have no fracture in my back. But x-ray revealed two issues to be dealt with. Doctor wanted me to start physical therapy immediately, and got me in to a facility I had been before years back. They are fantastic there, and it is very close to home. After my first session, a one hour analysis, I felt like I had been run over by a truck. I will be going for treatment twice a week, and the pain is severe but comes and goes. The worst part - well almost - is not being able to do much here. Very frustrating.
But we finally lined up a contractor to put in more insulation
in the attic. Had all the windows washed. Yes, our small pane windows with separate storms. Five windows in the LR alone.
You have spoken about your books. I can imagine, as we have the same situation here. And yet I give a few away and buy a few more. I do watch tv, trying for educational, programs that are spiritual, and oldies that I always liked.
I do hope you are doing well and enjoying the beautiful fall.
Every season has its eau
