Scary how(and why) they track your every move!

One never knows. At least that is what I keep hearing from the hot air in that politico place. Can't look for anyone even though certain groups are ""the ones"". Better to watch everyone and miss a few than offend anyone that is: A-B-C-D-E-F and so on. Wait till another event happens but whatever? Gotta watch grandma/grampa as long as they are in a certain ""whatever"".

It’s very hard to avoid tracking. You can bet if you’re logged into Facebook while you perform searches, they’re going to pick up on those. You might want to log out of Facebook, clear all cookies, cache and website data, and then relaunch the browser before visiting other sites.

I use several browser extensions/addons:


AdBlock Edge
AdBlock Plus
Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon
DoNotTrackMe
BetterPrivacy
Ghostery

(Remember, when using a combination of extensions/addons you'll occasionally find problems getting some websites to function completely, and you’ll need to temporarily disable certain addons. Also, quit and relaunch your browser regularly so those addons can install updates.)

Also, consider using the search engine “DuckDuckGo" (instead of the traditional Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) to minimize tracking.

Every time I do a search for something I may want to purchase, that product/item turns up on my other pages as an ad.

Happens to me, too, with Kohl's, Ebay, Macy's, HSN - but, not QVC.

I don't do FB at all......And over the weekend I reported over 40 e-mails as junk......didn't open a one of them. The only place on line I order from is the Q.......Yet, I get e-mails for dog coupons.....don't own a dog. Coupons for Huggies. No one in my family has a baby that uses diapers...... And OMGosh, the dating e-mails......join in looking for Asians, African American, etc.....you name it. I'm not even looking for anyone to meet that way. Life insurance......not looking to purchase any at all. Credit reports......have never gone on line for any of that either. Reverse mortgage.....don't own a home...... Auto, Renters, and HO insurance...... Especially when my auto insurance is about to come due. And Health Insurance coverage....I have all I need, and am very content with what I have. I could go on and on. Really don't like receiving all of these e-mails. And yes, it is junk to me.

I actually think it's weird when I see an advertisement for something that I haven't looked at - because anyone looking at my computer will think I did. For the longest time, I had advertisements for ChristianMingle come up on my work computer where other ads would be for items that I actually did look at! Just could not get them off!!

SO that is why things pop up when I am reading an article that has nothing to do with what I am looking at and then something I looked at a few days ago shows up. Well now I know.

It happens to me all the time.

It really doesn't bother me.

If there is something that I need to be concerned about though please let me know.
