I have heard of these kind of scams.  Can't figure out the purpose.

Those type of scam products are sent to unsuspecting people in hopes that the person receiving the item will scan the QR code inside the box. If that QR code is scanned then it takes you to a fake 'amazon' website where the scammers get your personal info and then steal your identity.

I recently had scam situation but not similar to yours. My CC was hacked I contacted the bank and everything was taken care of.  A few days later I received 3 letters from my bank suspending my online banking app and closing my account. I checked and my app was still functioning. The letters stated that I needed to call the bank with the number in the letter. I called the number on the bank of my card instead and found out that number was not even in my bank's system. Had I called that number I would have fallen for a scam.

It really is very sad that this is the way things are happening in today's world. We send customers a very nice thank you gift-it goes to the company office. But in the past couple of months the package was refused and returned to the sender, which is the winery. The gift is a $100 bottle of wine. Just this morning I received a notice that 4 bottles were returned.

Wow @SilleeMee thanks for the info.  I think I have only scanned one QR code and took forever to get it right but still that is frightening.

About two weeks ago, we got a small package addressed to a lady we didn't know with our address clearly shown on the label.

I looked up the company's name and address to see what it could possibly be inside.  The company was legit and they made dentures.

We googled the lady's name and figured out she lived about two streets away.

My husband drove to her house and asked if the package was hers.  It was.

We have received some crazy things in the mail, even scam items, but this was the first time, a neighbor we don't know, somehow got her package sent to our house.
