I think GOD said to him, you were a faithful servant.

@goldensrbest Thank you for this thread. I believe you posted you are not Catholic yet you are an example of kindness, understanding, and respect for another faith not your own.

Leaving the fashion police and back to the pope for just a moment, I tend to agree. Francis was apparently a lovely, caring, gentle man. Invoking the 'of the people' was both pretty accurate and made for an easy sell for the media. I've long felt he embodied all that a parish priest should embody. For me, he did not embody what I would have sought in a pope. Still, he was clearly beloved by many and will be missed. That said, I hope the conclave opts to purse a different path.
As for the fashion clash, it goes without saying there are those who will seek any reason to sling arrows for the next four years because their anthems and agendas or, more accurately in some cases, those of their children, have been interrupted. It's grown beyond tiresome.

My Catholic faith is based on just that - faith.
Not who wore what, who says what, who uses the faith to spew political garbage.
If all my son and grandson had seen was a blue suit then
I would have failed as a Catholic parent and grandmother (my grandson had me as his Confirmation sponsor).
Guess I did just fine. No mea culpas here.

I judge people by their character and this pope lived a life of humility, kindness and faith. I don't know why some Catholics didn't like him or what he preached, but that is for them to figure out. One thing I've learned as I've grown older is many people don't like change and are much more comfortable with the same old same old. This pope was a bit of a rebel in his thinking and that upset some. He asked us to accept and embrace much of what was once shunned by the church. That's really, really hard for some. My favorite saint used to be Theresa, but in recent years, like the pope's, it's St. Francis. Make me an instrument of your peace. . .
