So incredibly sad to lose another musical icon...I know we all have to exit the planet for the next, but dang reality slaps you hard when you hear bands and musicians that were part of your world leave. Saw the Stones three times in my life...every time they did not disappoint. Rock on Charlie wherever  you are🥁

A publicist confirmed that the Stones’ drummer had died at 80 on Tuesday, according to Variety.The news of passing comes almost three weeks after Charlie and the band announced that he’d be sitting out of the band’s upcoming “No Filter” tour, set to hit the U.S. this fall. In a statement at the time, Charlie announced that he’d recently undergone a surgical procedure and doctors advised he sit out the upcoming tour.

From Me:  Odd that Charlie looks the healthiest of the bunch in this photo.

He was 80 years old; the average lifespan is 78.  Some live longer than 80 & some live less than 78.  We are all going to die.  It isn't how long you live that matters, it is how well prepared you are to die.

Tinkrbl444   I wonder if your comment is contributed to the fact that he had a stable marriage for 67 years.  CW said he attributed his successful marriage to the fact that he met his wife before he became successful.  He just turned 80 in June before he transitioned.  He also appears less street worn than his successful fabulous fellow colleagues.  We will never know, but it is food for thought.

When you think of all the rock stars that died young .... Morrison, Joplin, Cobain, etc etc .... Charlie living to the ripe old age of 80 is really remarkable.

RIP Charlie

@golding76

Very well said...and my youth is wrapped around theirs...all of it seeming to unravel all at once sometimes.

A very special club indeed...groundbreakers, innovators, and, brought so much joy to our lives.

The Rolling Stones won't be the same with out Charlie Watts. Unfortunately, the guys are getting old like the rest of us.

 Charlie was the best. He set the bar very high.The Stones won't be the same without him.

  RIP Charlie in Rock & Roll Heaven!! 🥁 I miss you already!!

@golding76   Sure is an end of an era!  😔  The band won't be the same without him.

I've been lucky to see the Stones in concert twice.  First time was back in 1972 at the Akron Rubber bowl in Ohio.  Stevie Wonder opened for them.  It was awesome!  Second time was in 1997 at Gillette stadium in Foxboro, MA.  Equally awesome!
