@mormel@20  Willie Mays, a national treasure, has died at 93.

 

Love the references to him in the song and video "Centerfield" by CCR.

Such an inspirational player with natural talent and dignity.  Prayers for him.

Everyone knows his name, especially if you're a baseball fan. I grew up one and followed baseball for most of my life. He was always there.

 

He seemed like a nice person. I didn't know his godson is Barry Bonds. Barry's father Bobby was a close friend and teammate of Mr. Mays.

 

 

He told a reporter the day before he died he wasn't going to make the June 20th tribute game at Rickwood Field, Alabama, between his San Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals The day before - what a great long life!
