Re: Saw my first person WITHOUT a mask on Today out shopping

[ Edited ]

@SeaMaiden I went out today to one of our smaller grocery stores and there were about 8 shoppers in the store and I was the only shopper with a mask on.  After all these months it was so strange seeing people inside transitioning into not wearing masks.  I am not fully vaccinated and even when I am, I will be nervous for a while not wearing one.

@BalletBabe I disagree. In my area which is a large city, most are still masking up, including those of us who are vaccinated.

Many of us plan to for the foreseeable future. And  IMO the 4th of July is a silly arbitrary date.

Someone else thought it would be gone right after a date in November!  Wrong.

@Love my grandkids   I can assure you we won't be wearing them in Florida.   There were no vaccines in Nov. like there is now.  I personally am done and I am not Vaccinated.  If anyone requires me to wear them including my Dr.  He won't be seeing me.

@BalletBabeYou don't know what's going to happen with Covid by July 4 or any other future date, in Florida or anywhere else.

I don't know where @Love my grandkids lives, I live in busy S Florida. I've visited five large stores since last Friday.  Every adult I saw, except two people, was wearing a mask.  More people are wearing masks here in the past two weeks than six montIhs or one year ago!!!.

Florida is way, way down the list of states with the most people vaccinated and it's in the news here, alot. It just might be that unvaccinated Floridians (and tourists) aren't taking any chances now that the odds have switched (not in their favor), so now they're masking up.

Fine, don't wear a mask but there's no need to lecture other posters here.

And here in paradise (note I say that sarcastically) our Governor will not lift the mask mandate under any conditions, regardless of what anyone says.  Go figure...

My neighbor (a physician) is flying to Maui tomorrow for a medical conference.  He is taking his wife and a 5 and 8 year old for two weeks only because everyone on the plane has a negative Covid test before boarding, the mask mandate and whatever rules he found out the hotel has.  Maybe the Governor's rules are bringing the tourists back.

Well, I'm for sure not going to be a tourist anywhere that continues with the restrictions.

States are handling this so differently. Here, it's becoming rare to see people wearing masks. I am so glad that I can go into stores without a mask.

It's not rare in Santa Fe.  We were out running errands today and everyone se saw in stores had on masks except in Lowes where I saw 3 men without them.  Most stores have signs up saying you can't come in without a mask.

What's a few more months wearing masks.  Better safe than sorry I say.

We went grocery shopping this afternnon and it was busy. I'd say about a third didn't have a mask. We're not ready to take ours off.

Re: Saw my first person WITHOUT a mask on Today out shopping

It seems like a lousy policy to have the cashiers without a mask.  First of all, yes the vaccine will protect you more  than if you did not have one but it is not 100% just like the flu shot.  People are so anxious to be mask free.  Don't rush it, all you can lose is your life.

The only germs in the masks would be your germs. I hope you have been vaccinated and do not have the virus, because you have been risking everyone else's life by never wearing a mask. This is selfish and reckless behavior. I am surprised you are not embarrassed to admit it.

How sad that after all this time some feel the need to continue to call fellow posters names and BULLY them simply because they do not agree with what they believe.

You mean like the way you are calling me a bully? Look in the mirror. I am just stating the facts and several people seem to agree with me. Smiley Happy

For all you know, the poster's immune system is healthy and strong. Not everyone is a health risk!!

300,000 people have died and the poster does not seem to understand how serious this is.

In my part of Ohio, mask wearing has varied by location. Bigger cities more masks. Earlier on, almost everyone in masks most places.

The more rural the area though, the fewer masks I saw. And all through the pandemic, I saw tons of older and older with challenges (like oxygen) people going out and about and doing, often without masks.

Here, the bigger stores just this past week dropped mask requirements, and I'd say about half the people in them now are maskless. I was happy to experience that when we went maskless, our interactions with those still wearing masks was kind and positive. I honestly expected some sideways glances or some off handed comments, but saw/heard neither.

I won't lie, it feels a bit uncertain to go without after all this time. And something I had paid a lot of attention to during the mask mandates was that when out in stores, I never heard people sneezing and coughing, I would suppose mostly because they were afraid people would either run or run them out. But the last trip in this weekend, I heard/saw people sneezing/hacking repeatedly. I'm guessing colds and other bugs will be showing up more in the coming months.

In my part of Ohio masks were worn by almost everyone.  Yesterday saw the first sign the no masks were required if vaccinated.  Mask came off and in my pocket.  75% of customers and employees were without a mask.  Was so nice to see faces again.

But at least you wore a mask when it made sense and listened to the science.  The original poster NEVER wore a mask. That was my point.
