They know the antibodies protect and very likely from the 11 months of studies done so far, longer than the shots.  You can still get it wearing a mask and even with your shot.   These are facts. And the biggest fact is the highest at risk and the by far most that died is that over 484,000 of the over 584,000 were over 65.  I understand the fear of removing your mask if you fall in that age group.  But this thing always was 99% survivable for the under 65 crowd.  Yes people died. People will always die.  But this thing has in fact run it's course.  There are no longer the numbers to support the "millions and millions" will die in the US" fear.  It isn't going to happen.  They have a good picture of who is the most vulnerable now.  I have no fear of going without my mask.  I actually have no fear of even getting Covid anymore.  And a positive test is just that a positive.  If no one winds up in the hospital or on a ventilator, you heal at home, and now have antibodies.  I'm sure I will get bashed and trashed here and that's fine.  I am comfortable with my decisions and knowledge of the facts.  And the hard fact is even with a mask you can infect someone, even with a shot you can infect someone  The shot lowers the symptoms that's it.  Fact is even in the beginning when this was running wild with ZERO precautions no one dropped dead in the streets.  There were no masks being worn then, NONE.  And yet the most that got it and had the most severe outcomes were and always has been over 65.  No one cares if you want to continue to wear a mask forever.  It's fine.  It' s also fine if you don't.  Do you really think if "millions more" will die, that they would allow places to fully open?  That would be political suicide.  Please do not forget the millions and millions that worked through this whole thing with zero issues.  No we will not wind up where we were last winter with this virus.   But it's totally ok to keep your mask on and totally ok to take it off if you are comfortable.

@eadu4. Your post reminds me of a cartoon I saw.

It was of a headstone with the inscription "I Should Have Worn A Mask."

Re: Saw my first person WITHOUT a mask on Today out shopping

@Pearlee  I respectfully disagree with your portrayal of me.  Thanks for the subtle dig that I'm a cartoon and will die from no mask.  I got this far and as far as I know, no virus and if I did have the virus I now have antibodies.  I did  however I wind up in an emergency room and on medication forever from 1 shot.    It's ok to disagree but your reply crossed a line by throwing out a subtle threat.  Seriously. I have facts that back up my statements:

May 2021- using the total of 568,053 deaths.

Age 0 - 17     287 deaths

 Age 18 - 29     2,163 deaths

 Age 30 - 39     6299 deaths

Age 40 - 49     16,987 deaths

Age 50 - 64     87,915 deaths   Which is a total of 113,651 deaths for the ages 0-64 out of our US population of 328.2 Million people.

Now the deaths from ages 65 and older:

Age 65 - 74      125,989

Age 75 - 84      156,777

Age 85 -           171,686     Which is a total of 454,402 deaths recorded for 65 and older.  By far the largest risk of the most severe outcomes was from those 65 and older.

The risk is not the same for everyone.  Not everyone needs the vaccine.  The lower in age, the less the risk of a severe outcome or even syptoms at all of this virus.  Covid 19 survival rates per the CDC:

Ages 0-19  99.997%

Ages 20-49  99.98%

Ages 50-69   99.5%

Ages 70 +     94.6%

This never was an "automatic death sentence" for everyone.  Nor was it even a trip to the hospital.  We know now that a positive test is just that...simply a positive test.  And without any clinical symptoms you recover and now have antibodies.    I'm not worried but you seem to think I should be and you have no facts to present as to why I should be.  I understand in the beginning it was very scary.  But now hundreds of millions are vaccinated, millions and millions have the antibodies, and there are proven treatment protocols in place should I even wind up in a hospital.    I understand the greater risk if you are 65 and older and have any or all of the certain medical conditions that this thing thrives on.    And by the way not all masks are created equal never have been.  So not everyone was equally protected with their "mask". A good portion of those masks were no better than a napkin on a string.

They are estimating the need for a booster vaccine shot in a year. All signs are pointing at a year now. They only said six months a while ago because that's how long they could be sure about.

That time frame keeps getting longer so it will keep changing, obviously. Just like when there's a new ball game, there's a new score. Something would be wrong if it didn't change

Those that are saying "we will be right back where we were"  "millions will die!"  etc...I ask HOW?  ~ @eadu4

You might be asking HOW...I'm asking WHO?

Who here commented that millions will die? Granted I haven't read every comment so I'd appreciate you pointing me to this comment  you referenced in your post. TIA Smiley Happy

That's scary, so sorry to hear this. Which shot did you recieve--was it J&J, Moderna, or Pfizer and how did it cause you to be on medication forever?

Today at work masks were optional for the first time since March 2020.  It felt weird not to have it on!
