Re: Saw This On Another Web Page And It Hit Home

I just ran across this article:

NBC news . com  ......

"Why our sense of time speeds up as we age"

I haven't read the entire article.  Just a brief 'look over'.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Saw This On Another Web Page And It Hit Home

I dislike mirrors.

Growing up there were always mirrors.

One large one over the couch. 2 large mirrors in my parents room. 2 mirrors in the bathroom, hallway, kitchen, anywhere.

I hate them.

My mother would not talk on the telephone without looking in the mirror!!!

I avoided mirrors since.

One mirror in the bathroom. My bedroom set mirror is not on the dresser where it should be. It is behind another piece of furniture in the bedroom facing backwoods.

Mirrors are not my thing.

I do have one long mirror to look at to make sure my outfit looks as it should. When I am done looking, I turn it around.

Creepy.

@Coastalcarolina

It sounds like we had very similiar relationships and experiences with our mothers!  I do forget at times how old I am --- although my health issues keep reminding me unfortunately!  I remember so vividly my mother saying that she still felt the same inside and that no matter what she looked like on the outside, she was still a woman and still wanted to feel pretty.  The comment your mother made to you about looking like you stepped out of the Spiegel catalog, that was wonderful and I'm sure you did look like that and your mother meant it!  My mother used to tell me similar things when I would wear something, she would tell me how beautiful I looked and how proud of me she was the way I took such good care of myself!

It works both ways.    I look in the mirror and see the fat teenager with a unibrow, bad acne, and hair fried by my mother's Lilt Extra Strong home permanent.

@Desertdi I have always thought I had a twin!  And not I know--it's YOU!!!!!  Sister!!!!!! That was ME in 8th grade!

I saw her and said "This is gotta be fixed!"  Grew my stringy straight hair out!  LOL!!!!!!!
