If everyone thought alike, no one would have to do much thinking.
Lord, bless me with the strength of my convictions and the ability
to disagree when necessary without being disagreeable.
Scripture for the day:
"Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to
give you the kingdom." ~Luke 12:32
Meditation for the day:
The life-line, the line of rescue, is the line from the soul to God.
On
one end of the life-line is our faith and on the other end is God's power.
It can be a strong line and no soul can be overwhelmed who is linked to God
by it. I can trust in this life-line and never be afraid. God can save me
from doing wrong and from the cares and troubles of life. I can look to God
for help and trust God for aid when I am emotionally upset.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that no lack of trust of fearfulness will make me disloyal to God. I
pray that I may keep a stronghold on the life-line of faith.
Hello my friends! Today was a blessed relaxing day - still taking a pain
pill here and there, I'll try not to tonight, see if I can. My dear husband
is loving his days off!! He works this weekend and that is the last weekend
he works there - that is for sure now. He'll work about 10 hours a week in
the new year and no weekends. Just found out tonight that an old friend
we've known for years passed away last night and the funeral is on Monday -
This is in the town we lived in for 27 years - I'm sure it will be a big
funeral. His wife always was a good friend of mine - but we kind of drifted
apart with our move. It'll be good to see her again, but not for her
husband's funeral. Praying for them all in this time of saddness - and for
the repose of Wally's soul. Praying for all of you for your needs and
thanks so much for your prayers for us. God be with you all!
Some Of The Best
Matthew was a tax collector
Hated by most,
Yet he was chosen as a disciple
By the Lord of Host.
Zacchaeus cheated
Many in his day,
But Jesus dined with him
When He passed his way.
Women were on a level
Far below man,
Yet inside a woman
His life began.
And Samaritans
Were despised by the Jews,
But to a woman Samaritan
Jesus gave the Good News.
Cheaters, adulteresses
Sinful and unclean,
These were the people
With whom Jesus was seen.
Saul persecuted Christians
Until that day,
Jesus blocked his path
Along the way.
He touched his heart
And Paul came to be,
A wonderful example
For you and me.
David was a murderer
Yet look how he was blessed,
God loved him far more
Than most of the rest.
Moses also
Murdered too,
Check out Mary Magdalene
Me and you.
Look at the examples
Shown above,
No earthly sin
Can hinder His love.
For He takes earthly sin
And throws it aside,
He looks deep in the heart
To see what's inside.
He looks in that place
Where no man can go,
Where the depth of his love
Begins to flow.
So when we see someone
Who is a sinner by far,
Remember this list
And where they are now.
Remember the sins
Listed above,
Remember He alone
Measures their love.
And before we hate
And judge the rest,
Look at those God chose
As some of the best.

A PRAYER TO JESUS
Lord Jesus, help me to accept your rule in every corner in my life. May I
have in me the same values and outlook as are in you.
Let me imitate you in my conduct and love my neighbour as you love them.
Make me sensitive to the sorrowful and unfortunate, and generous in helping
others where possible.
Banish from my life every allegiance which is contrary to your gentle rule.
Amen.

THE BIRTH OF JESUS
Author Unknown
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be
taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took
place while Quirinius was governor of Syria). And everyone went to his
own town to register
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea,
to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and
line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to
be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there,
the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her
firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a
manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping
watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were
terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you
good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the
town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and
lying in a ."
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel,
praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on
whom his favor rests."
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said
to the one another, " Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that
has happened, which the Lord has told us about."
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was
lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word
concerning whathad been told them about this child, and all who heard
it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. But Mary treasured
up all these things and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds
returned, glorifying and praising
God for all the things they had heard and seen , which were just as
they had been told. (Luke 2: 1-20 NIV)
AFTER CHRISTMAS POEM
Author Unknown
'Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house,
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste,
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared,
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared.
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese,
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt.
I said to myself, as I only can,
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished,
'Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick,
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore,
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot,
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
Gentle Jesus
Gentle Jesus, meek and mild
Look upon a little child,
Pity mine and pity me,
Suffer me to come to thee.
Heart of Jesus, I adore you,
Heart of Mary, I implore you,
Heart of St Joseph, pure and just,
In these three hearts, I put my trust.
Amen
