Do not leave for another day a task which God would have you do today.
Lord, give me the determination to not procrastinate and the joy to do my
work well.
Scripture for the day:
"The greatest among you will be your servant. All who exalt themselves will
be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted." ~Matthew
23:11-12
Meditation for the day:
We can remember that the first quality of greatness is service. In a way,
God is the greatest servant of all, because God is always waiting for us to
ask for help in all the good work we do. God's strength is always available
to us, but we can ask it of God through our own free will. It is a free
gift, but we can sincerely seek it. A life of service is the finest life we
can live. We are here on earth to serve others. That is our mission, and a
sign of how well we do God's work here on earth!
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may cooperate with God in all good things. I pray that I may
serve God and others and so lead a useful and happy life.
Hello my friends! Today I found out from the Vet that Sammy has Arthritis
and no torn ligament. The surgeon that came today that was supposed to
check Sam, and we cancelled, looked at his X-Ray anyway for free, and that's
what he said he has. So now Sam is back on steroids again for two months,
and after that the Vet will decide what other method to go with. He won't
heal, that's a bummer - but may God's will be done and now that we know, we
can keep him as pain free as possible. Here all this time we thought it was
a torn ligament. We're taking care of Ollie this weekend because Lori is
gone for the weekend with classmates that she still hangs out with. They
are at some resort. Never a dull moment with Ollie. We went to Walmart
today - bought some turkey drummies and wings, and he grilled it for
supper - and I de-boned it and put it a salad and was that ever good! Also
bought a turkey so someday we'll be having that on the grill too when Lori
can join us. Thanksgiving we're invited to my sister, Deil's. Praying for
all of you for your needs, and thanks for your prayers for us - and Sammy.
I FOUND JESUS THERE

November 16, 2012
The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him.
"Tomorrow morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart..."
"You'll find Jesus there," the boy interrupted.
The surgeon looked up, annoyed. "I'll cut your heart open," he continued,
"to see how much damage has been done..."
"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Jesus in there." The surgeon
looked to the parents, who sat quietly.
"When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and chest
back up and I'll plan what to do next."
"But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The Bible says He lives there. The hymns
all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."
The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your heart.
I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened vessels. And I'll
find out if I can make you well."
"You'll find Jesus there too. He lives there."
The surgeon left. The surgeon sat in his office, recording his notes from
the surgery: "...damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein, widespread muscle
degeneration. No hope for transplant, no hope for cure. Therapy:
painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis:" here he paused, "death within one
year."
He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked
aloud.
"Why did You do this? You've put him here; You've put him in this pain; and
You've cursed him to an early death. Why?" The Lord answered and said, "The
boy, My lamb, was not meant for your flock for long, for he is a part of My
flock, and will forever be. Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and
will be comforted as you cannot imagine. His parents will one day join him
here, and they will know peace, and My flock will continue to grow."
The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created that
boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months. Why?"
The Lord answered,
"The boy, My lamb, shall return to My flock, for he has done his duty: I did
not put My lamb with your flock to lose him, but to retrieve another lost
lamb."
The surgeon wept.
The surgeon sat beside the boy's bed; the boy's parents sat across from him.
The boy awoke and whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"
"Yes," said the surgeon.
"What did you find?" asked the boy.
"I found Jesus there," said the surgeon.
A PRAYER FOR RESTLESSNESS
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you
rest."
Matthew 11:28
Lord of Heaven and Earth,
The Bible says that You are the One who grants peace to restless souls.
Father, I have tried every solution within my reach to find rest to my
troubled soul; but I have bitterly discovered that they are all futile. But
at so many places in the Bible, You have promised to grant rest to troubled
and sorrowful souls. You are the Only One who can calm the storm that tosses
the boat of my life. Father, help me to believe You and entrust my tomorrow
into Your hands, and rest assured that there is no situation that is beyond
Your power to solve and set right this situation.
Thank You Lord for hearing my prayer and I am sure that You will pour Your
peace into my heart, because You have promised that You will keep him in
perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You. I thank You in faith that my
heart will find rest in You. I ask this in Jesus' name, O God.
Amen.
