I have routines on weekdays but they aren't part of our Saturday. I hate to have to go shopping - or just about anywhere because it gets so crowded on Saturday - and I wind up sitting around the house. Sundays are much better - church , then breakfast then home to do the laundry. Monday I go to my volunteer job tues & thurs aerobics - wed. sewing club -fri. I grocery shop. I'm gonna have to figure out something for saturday. The YMCA is out of the question - it's jammed there on saturday.

What about the library?

Maybe a walk around your neighborhood; chat with neighbors working in their front gardens.......Or, maybe visit your local library, do a bit of reading in the reading room or magazine reading room. Just a thought. I used to sit in the newspaper-magazine reading room at my local library. Instead of subscribing to many magazines, I was able to look through them at my library! In fact, I think that I'll begin doing that next week! Thanks for the reminder!

Hey, Cherry! We posted at the same time! Thinking the same at the same time!

Seriously, Cherry: For years, I've been quickly going through magazines while waiting in long supermarket checkout lanes...............Or glancing through them in the magazine aisle. Going to the magazine reading room at my library has totally 'slipped by my mind' for many years. I'm grateful to O/P for starting this thread. A wonderful reminder to visit my local library! So much more relaxing to thoroughly look through and read magazines in a peaceful, quiet place.
We must never forget to preserve our local libraries. ![]()

@151949- I know what you mean. Monday-Friday I have a routine. I love having a routine. I walk in the early morning (indoors), run errands, post office, grocery shopping, doctors appointment, whatever. I can do ok on Saturdays. I limp my way through Saturdays. Sundays, for me, everything comes to a screeching halt and I'm usually bored.
We live on a busy street so no walking through the neighborhood. My knees are in horrible shape so I do my walking for fitness inside and the center I go to isn't open on the weekends. By Sunday I've either done all my errands or I can't do something because the business is closed because it's the weekend.
It's so funny. When I was working, everything pointed to the weekend. Couldn't wait to get to the weekend. Now that I'm not working I like week days better.
I've considered maybe a part time job on weekends (have no idea what) but to be honest, my husband isn't in the greatest shape and I really think I'd prefer to be with him. He's fine physically staying by himself at this point but I love him, we've been together forever, and I want to be here with him.
I'm happiest when we're back to Monday.

I like to avoid the week end crowds also. I do my housework or yard work on the week ends. The only time I go out is when there is a play or event that I cannot go to another times. Today I am reading a book and washing items that need to "lay flat to dry". Also getting out my bought ahead Christmas gifts and make sure everyone is covered.

To be honest I'm rarely bored. Being retired means I don't have to fill every day. I watch less tv than I thought I would,and I read to my hearts content. I'm a bit of an introvert, so I appreciate less noise and more peace.

IF it were me, and I was out and about every day like you seem to be, I'd be very glad to have a day at home to clean or do outside work, or a special decorating or renovation project.
If that isn't your style, maybe start a group/club type thing for Saturday. Maybe some of your friends are kind of lost on Saturday as well, and might like to get together (even if just once a month or every other Saturday) for brunch at each other's house, or anything from a book club to a kintting circle etc.

@QVCkitty1, I think we must be soul sisters . . .
