Any time my kids are with me and they see a bell ringer (which is almost everywhere) they ask to put money in. It is a good cause so I try to give them some change to drop into the bucket. I cannot afford to donate every time I see them or I would go broke, but sometimes I feel guilty for walking by them without donating something.
Yesterday when I made a quick trip to Walmart for dog food I saw a great idea. Maybe I'm shallow for this, but some local firemen were working as the bell ringers. Very good looking guys, and lots of people (women!) were stopping to make a donation.
Sometimes I think we see them so often we get used to just walking by. I try to at least say hello even if I can't donate every time. But those firemen in uniform really made people notice!
