Saltines and Oyster Crackers

I am in Central Illinois and trying to find saltines and oyster crackers is almost impossible!

I finally found some Zesta saltines last week and some oyster crackers the other day, but our shelves are bare here.  Maybe because these are so popular with soups and chili.

Funny what items seem to be in short supply.

Re: Saltines and Oyster Crackers

@4kitties I always have a large box of saltines on hand. I was running low and I needed a new box and at Safeway the other day there were only 2 boxes left. The employee and I were chatting and he said that due to supply problems they are only getting one huge case a week from Nabisco and said "grab a box while you can!"  I did and he said a lot of customers express understanding about the supply problems and that the staff really appreciates it as they also get a lot of what he called "grief' from a lot of people.

@Love my grandkids

I have noticed shortages at the stores I shop, but if one store does not have an item, one of the others usually will have it.  But this saltine/oyster cracker shortage seems to be all of our stores!  I guess it is that way everywhere.

Walmart rarely has Eggo waffles, but Kroger does.  Same with Tater Tots.

Crazy.......

Our shelves barely had any kind of crackers this week. I think people bought them for Super Bowl parties.

I quit buying saltines 2+ years ago because they did not have a good taste; only keep oyster crackers in the house now.

Yes!  I forgot about the Super Bowl parties!  Bet that has been another big reason for the shortage.

@4kitties

I have also noticed a shortage of saltines & oyster crackers. I am in Louisville, KY. Our stores are generally better stocked then earlier in the pandemic, but we still notice certain products seem to be more difficult to keep in stock. Sports drinks, especially, Gatorade, is very difficult to find here.

@RedTop

I definitely prefer oyster crackers.

Yes. I am picky about saltines.  I have had to toss brands in the past as they did not have a good flavor.  I have had good luck with Kroger brand and Zesta.

Last week we went to Sam's. We wanted to buy crackers. We were almost out. All they had Cheez-Its. That is it -  ONE BRAND of crackers.

Went to Sam's yesterday and they had just about every brand and type available. Go figure.

In New Jersey oyster crackers are hard to find also. I got a bag at Shop-Rite , there were only two bags left so I bought one and left one for someone else.
