This oldie "If I Had Only Known" is from Reba McEntire. She wrote it after a tragic crash killed seven members of her band, her tour manager, and the two pilots flying the plane. The tribute album was called "For My Broken Heart" and there is a song by the same name.

If I Had Only Known

If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain
I'd keep you out for hours in the storm
I would hold your hand
Like a lifeline to my heart
Underneath the thunder, we'd be warm
If I had only known
It was our last walk in the rain

If I had only known
I'd never hear your voice again
I'd memorize each thing you ever said
And on those lonely nights
I could think of them once more
And keep your words alive inside my head
If I had only known
I'd never hear your voice again

You were the treasure in my hand
You were the one who always stood beside me
So unaware, I foolishly believed
That you would always be there
But then there came a day
And I turned my head, and you slipped away

If I had only known
It was my last night by your side
I'd pray a miracle to stop the dawn
And when you smiled at me
I would look into your eyes
And make sure you know my love for you goes on and on

If I had only known
If I had only known
Oh the love I would have shown
If I had only known

All those songs some of you are listing are creatively great, but when I'm feeling down, there is no way I want to hear any of them.  Heck, I don't want to hear them that often no matter what my mood.  I just heard Carrie Underwood's - Jesus Take the Wheel yesterday, and ugh......such meaning in that one right now for me, but please....

makes me bawl my eyes out!!

Brought tears to my eyes just reading this....

He sent me an email in Feb. 2010.... said "I love you and always will"

I knew him since 1967.

He 'stopped loving' me May 2010.

I worked part-time nights at a YMCA when this happened.  They were members and I heard the news, I think, on the way to work.  Ours hearts broke because we knew them and their families. At that time we didn't know that one had flown out prior and wasn't on that plane. When he and his family came in days/weeks later ... we all started crying.

I can't listen to this without "seeing" them all.

Fate whispers to her, "You cannot withstand the storm." She whispers back, "I am the storm."

I lost my best friend from lymphoma when she was 35.  She was a nurse and arranged her own funeral.  She had a member of the choir sing Music of the Night from Phantom because it gave her comfort when she was so ill and she loved the song.  It was an odd choice for a funeral but her choice.  To this day, I can't listen to that song but it was effective and beautiful at her funeral mass.

"Over the Rainbow", "My Funny Valentine" and "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" were played at my mother's funeral.  They make me sad that she is gone, but happy for the memories of hearing her sing.

I'm Not Gonna Miss You - Glen Campbell.....it's sad because it is a love song to his wife and expresses his feelings about his struggles with Altzheimers.  Very touching; she will be the last face he sees or remembers but he won't miss her....because he won't know her...
