Re: 🦷 SURGERY UPDATE 🦷

I can't imagine going through all of that pain, soft foods. I hope you will be able to enjoy the holidays.

When my mom was sick, the last 6 months of her life, we had to puree her food. We pureed many foods, even cupcakes. For meats, you can use broth, for thinks like cupcakes, milk works.

If the meat and broth is warm it still tastes good. Best for your recovery.

I was wondering if you were okay. I am happy everything went well. Here are a few suggestions for soft food:

  • Soups: Warm and soothing, but avoid very hot temperatures.
  • Mashed potatoes: Creamy and comforting.
  • Oatmeal: Hearty and filling.
  • Smoothies: Nutrient-rich and easy to drink.
  • Yogurt: Soft and creamy.
  • Scrambled eggs: High in protein and easy to chew.
  • Applesauce: Smooth and gentle on the mouth.
  • Bananas: Soft and easy to eat.
  • Avocado: Creamy and nutritious.
    • Pudding and Jello: Soft and sweet treats.
    • Ice cream: A cool, soothing option

@elated      You need to "watch the calories" with all that "soft stuff".    During my last (and final) go-around with the implants, I GAINED 30 POUNDS......and getting rid of that bulk took TWO YEARS.     di

Fabulous sharing community I have stumbled on!

@cheriere -- In another lifetime, having dropped out of college, I was a trained Dental Assistant (top of my class at Oakland College of Dental Medical Assistants). Not much enthusiasm in my family (who were loving) for me to finish college.

I did go back, got my BA, then my JD law, then an MA studying people, then the PhD, studying juries.

Hope you had fabulous dental assistants through your dental choices. They are the gateway that makes a difference in how we experience dental work.

Everyone who recommended Premier Protein shakes!

Wow. Just what I needed. I have used Ensure, but it does have sugar and not that much protein in the original formula.

Went to Amazon and found Premier Protein.

Zillion reviews, lots of great info, 24 vitamins and minerals, 30g protein!

So many flavors, it was hard to decide.

Went with Strawberry Vanilla.

12 pack coming this AFTERNOON!

I am a slender person. Lost some weight this year, but low appetite.

This will help me keep my protein up, plus all the extras.

@cheriere and all her fabulous friends: you are a treasure!

Strawberry vanilla sounds yummy.  I get them at my local Sams club, my favorite has been chocolate but I have heard the cafe au lait or something coffee flavored like that is good also.

Yes they do pack a good protien punch considering the calories its  good ratio.

@cheriere   I'm so glad you are home, and the worst is over.  You have some wonderful forums friends here.  We are cheering for you.  Sorry you are still in some pain.

I had jaw surgery in the 80's.  My mouth was wired shut for six weeks.  Ice cream and shakes got old fast. There wasn't all these protein powders/shakes back then.  But I could eat regular foods in six weeks.  My favorite was puréed mashed potatoes.  So good to have so many options everyone shared here!  So many wonderful forums friends.  Of course we don't really know people, but so many kind caring people here.

Please take care, rest, and just remember all of us are thinking of you!  You've been through a lot!

@cheriere, So sorry for what you are going through!  But taking care of dental issues is so important for your overall health.  So happy all the great people here have offered you some excellent suggestions.  Before you know it, this will be over!  Meanwhile, sending you my best healing wishes to you.

Implants are a big investment to be sure, having some myself, but you will be rewarded for the rest of your life.

@cheriere

So glad to hear that you are ok!
May I recommend Amy MEYERS MD paleoprotein shakes? I think they have 24 g of protein ...

very pure and non-inflammatory, at least for me!
