Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

I sacrifice throughout the Lenten period. Have never taken Sundays off.

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

Q: Why are Sundays excluded from the reckoning of the forty days?

A: Because Sunday is the day on which Christ arose, making it an inappropriate day to fast and mourn our sins. On Sunday we must celebrate Christ's resurrection for our salvation. It is Friday on which we commemorate his death for our sins. The Sundays of the year are days of celebration and the Fridays of the year are days of penance.

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

I've done it both ways. I'm Protestant, so it might be different if you're Catholic. Hubby is hard core that Sundays are free, but I think that's just cause he needs a drink by then (he gave up alcohol -- lol!). I hope they are free, cause I just had half a burger and two cookies (I gave up meat and sweets). Smiley Wink Hi to you, EMT!!! Hope you're well. Smiley Wink

Uh oh, Future, God saw that! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

I also grew up Presbyterian and have never taken Sunday's off during Lent but that's just me. I figure I can give up something from Ash Wednesday until Easter to honor Christ after all that He's done for me. But at the same token, I don't judge anyone who does take Sunday's off.

Whatever works.

LOL, I have an uncle who always gives up his after-dinner cocktail for Lent - But, allows himself a couple of "pops" on Sundays!

Re: SUNDAYS- Included in Lent or not?

Sundays are NOT considered days of Lent. There are 40 days: 6 weeks of 6 days each=36 days. The other four days are Ash Wednesday and the three days that follow.
