When I would get my donations ready, I would just go to my cabinet and fill the bag from my extras.

I recently was reminded that many families and individuals probably have limited cooking facilities. Some live in motels or just don't have a stove. Maybe it is only a microwave or hot plate. I now think of how the food must be prepared. I try to include protein such as spam, tuna, can chili.

Our donations are such a small amout of the food needed at the food banks, churches, community centers, after school snacks.....

I didn't receive a card in the mail like I have in the past , but heard it on the news.

Filled a bag and put it on my porch under my mail box. The carriers walk several blocks and go back to their vehicles, so I didn't expect him to take it when he delivered my mail. Thought maybe he would make note and come back. Ring door bell showed he was here about 10:30. At 6:30 I brought the bag back in the house. It was not my usual carrier, guess this one didn't want to be bothered. They closed out local post office a few years ago, otherwise I would take it there on Mon. Guess I'll look for a local food bank and take it there. Just frustrated!

Yes, I did and for the 2nd year in a row, the guy left it sit. Monday I'll take it to the post office, but it's the last time. I'll make sure the boy scouts get extra when they have their drive, they at least take it.

We received a postcard the first year, but have NEVER received a bag for the donation.

@RedTop  Our PO hasn't provided a bag either. I don't think that's something they do. Our scouts and local churches usually provide a bag. I just left my items in the grocery bags and put them beside the mailbox. The mailman took them.

We are always happy to do this!  We have the nicest mail carrier and he got the bag this morning.  He loves us because we have the biggest mail box around and it is WIDE.  He says it's like a puzzle putting the packages and mail in! Woman LOL  We got a bag before, and a little thank you note in the box saying it was picked up.

@granddi  You are very thoughtful. Our food bank mentioned they would like to receive Spam as well. I didn't even think of that. They also asked for the Knorr packages of rice or pasta mix. That would tie into the microwave use. Good thinking!

@QVCkitty1   We, too, get a card and a bag. Since we live rural I just go ahead and take my filled boxes in to our little, local post office.  We have the sweetest little lady carrier and I always apologize for some of the heavy, large packages she brings to my front door so I feel that's the least I can do.

Our local post office takes all the food collected to our church food bank. It is nice to see all the food donated.

Plus our church has a "Little Free Pantry" outside the church. So that you can donate items 24/7. Whenever there is a good sale on toothpaste, detergent, soap, Chunky soup, peanut butter, canned chicken, salmon or tuna, I buy it so I can donate it.

The church really does a good job and are well organized and keeping the items moving. Glad the post office is able to collect as much as it does, to help people who need help.

Yes, I donate to this cause every year. It's such a simple and easy way to make a contribution to the local food bank, so I am happy to participate. Thank you to all the mail carriers that do the extra work.
