I understand. Had I qualified to receive my SS income then that would be deceased by a percentage if I collect my state pension along with it. Rip off!

After they deducted 170.00, I came out with 76.00. Never did get statement and it was mailed Dec 4th. They are sending a second statement.

For me, I am grateful for ANY increase. I think and know it was not enough to keep up with living expenses, wish they could of did a little more.

PapaWick and I didn't receive a mailing regarding our increase since we have online accounts. However we were able to access our information through said accounts.

@fthunt wrote:@SilleeMee Just to confuse the issue more..........my hairdresser's husband high level job with the railroad...........they (he) has to pay into SSI plus the gov't employee plan but........can't collect on SSI. One or the other not both Apparently his job plan is the best.
Plus hairdresser has to pay in SSI.
@fthunt Railroad employees pay into the railroad retirement fund in lieu of social security. The deduction and benefits are about the same. The hairdresser may have something confused.

@Kachina624 Confess I didn't ask any in-depth questions........it was idle chit-chat during a haircut.
She probably understands it all very well........me not so much

Aware inflation & medical insurance will eat a chunk.....but we might have a few coins left over.
I hope............
So you're saying you get SSI instead of Social Security Retirement? SSI is income from Social Security for those who are disabled but did not pay much or anything at all into the Social Security system. Are you disabled @fthunt ? If you are you would receive SSI or SSDI from the Social Security Administration.

@Kachina624 wrote:@phoenixbrd Have you actually looked at the statement mailed to you? I was quite pleased to learn I'll clear $170.
That's not the case for most of us. Not even close
Most people who receive SSDI, and SS Benefits will see their Medicare Part B premium rise to about $170.00 a month. The rest of the increase you get to pocket.
After my raise in Medicare Part B premium I will see about an additional $100 per month. I'm not complaining about that.

Ok hold on - isn't SSI different from SS? Isn't SSI disability?
I don't get SSI and my regular SS increased by $47, reduced by the ridiculous increase in Medicare insurance that is taken off before you get your check.

I'm very happy with my SS increase even after insurance premiums. I received my letter in the mail last week.
