Some banks (including ours) credits paychecks and SS checks 2 days early, so we already had ours before today.

That must be why we have been getting ours a few days early, pension too.  It only started last month or the month before.

The date of your birth determines when you receive your SS payment. My BD is the 24  and my husband's is the 23 so we both receive our SS payment on the 4th Wednesday. His bank makes the deposit several days in advance. Mine doesn't.

Mine is the 1st and my husbands is the 8th so we get ours the 2nd Wednesday.

My vote is that all fed holidays except July 4th should be on a Monday.  It's just too difficult for financial reasons to be in the middle of the week.  And it doesn't give workers much since there is no long weekend.

@Sooner   So we would no longer celebrate Christmas on December 25, or New Years on January 1 and Thanksgiving would be on a Monday instead of a Thursday. I doubt seriously that this will ever happen.  At least I hope not!

@50Mickey Christmas, New Year, and Fourth of July are all long established planned by date holidays.  Other holidays moved, so I don't see an issue.

Thanksgiving has been moved at least once already and I'd like to see it moved to earlier in November now!  I think folks need to be a little more flexible now.  Move Thanksgiving back so we don't have two gigantic meals so close, travel would be easier, more time for families to get together sometime between these two holidays, and more time to shop and get ready.

Let's make it the first or second Thursday in November!

You do realize you can celebrate any holiday anytime you want.  No need for the entire country to change.

@Sooner

Move Thanksgiving earlier in the month and it will be pushed up against elections and Veterans Day.

In Canada, Thanksgiving is in October but much of the US is still blazing hot before Halloween.

That explains the Juneteenth flag that is flying over the capitol today.
