Re: SOVEREIGNTY WINS, FINAL MOMENTS

I presume you mean "descendant", @drizzellla , not direct offspring?  I read one article listing one of the probable contenders as the son of a horse that won the Triple Crown a few years ago.  Secretariat won the Triple Crown in 1975, I think, so the odds of him having any direct sons or daughters right now is vanishingly remote, given the Jockey Club's rules on using frozen ****** and using artificial insemination.

I would be more interested in hearing if ANY of that field was NOT running on Lasix, myself.....

@Mz iMac

Congratulations!

Years ago I won $600 at an ordinary race and DH was embarrassed.  Since I had to work that Saturday, he took my names of the horses in each race and was late getting to the track where my uncle was waiting for him.

He barely had time to place the first bet.  As he got to the table, he was the only one cheering at the track: I had picked the two long shots to place first and second.

He hastily explained: it was your niece who picked them !

@CamilleP  Many have never used Lasix and you can't get points to get into the derby using it. It looks like Baeza is the only horse in the superfecta that's ever used it.

Yes, @CamilleP you are right. I did not mean direct offspring. I should have said descendant.

As you said it would be pretty hard for any horse to be a direct decadent. Secretariat won the triple crown over 50 years ago.

PS - I went to Churchill Downs 2 years ago. We were given a very nice tour. Had my picture taken with the Secretariat statue. And drank mint julep for the first time. Hated the first sip. But gave it another try. Second sip wasn't as bad. By the third sip I was liking the drink.

Got a glass with all the winners of the Kentucky Derby on it. Liked the gift shop. They were even selling hats. I guess if you forgot to bring one.

We have a bit of a connection to Sandman, so he was our choice to win.🐎

Oh well, I don't think he is running in the Preakness, but he will be in the Belmont.

I watched a Dr. Pol show where he was called to check up on someones horse that descended from Secretariat.

I'd rather not say on a public forum.
