I don't pay for checks either.  I don't use them that much and still have plenty though....

I ordered from Walmart about 18 months ago.  Best prices I could find and fast delivery.  I have had no security issues or problems as a result of order & purchase.

@Tinkrbl44  I use Bank Of America for my checking and Saving accounts and get FREE checks.  Have for years. You might look into that.

@Tinkrbl44  Dang! You need to  change banks if you cannot call, walk inside, go through the drive-in if you have to "pay" for personal checks.  There is no way, that bank will get my business if the only way I can get personal checks is through a "website."  And then have to pay to boot!!!

If I am "in town" I go inside or through the drive through to order checks.  Otherwise, I call them to place my order.

I can also order by mail as my check comes w/snail mail ordering application!

Like you it's been years since I last purchased checks,  I still have plenty of checks  from my last order, because I rarely write checks. The last order that I made was back in 2017, and  I purchase through my bank for convenience sake.

I see that you have received some well meaning advice to change your bank. (smile) I would not under any circumstances, switch my bank that I have been with for many years, and that I am comfortable doing business with  just because they charge to order a box of checks from. 

However, years ago when we all use to write checks for everything, I would purchase through the check companies that were advertised in the Sunday newspaper. I never had a problem with security. 

I do not know this for a fact, but I personally believe that all of these companies pretty much go through a set number of printing companies, and the price varies depending upon the entity. 

That's my two cents.

Have ordered through Walmart for years.  When I went to order checks from my bank I was shocked at the price.  The teller told me to order from Walmart.  He said that is where he gets his.  Fast service, inexpensive, and never had any problem.
