@tends2dogs Yes, a very long story there . I've told it here before . Here's the cliff notes version. Dated him all through school - broke up over the summer before nursing school - married someone else - he died very young - got back together with HS sweetheart. Married 34 years.

I was also one of the VERY few girls who didn't mind having swimming as a first period class.
The way I remember my high school years, you had to be a member of a certain clique to be considered for homecoming queen/cheerleader. While I was friendly with these girls during school hours, and occasionally invited to lunch, I was never a part of their group.
I had to smile about your comment about first hour swim class........so did you have short hair, a pony tail, .....why didn't it bother you? I had it one semester and I hated it. I had long hair and did not like walking around with wet hair. Maybe you were more into the sport of swimming than I was. Don't get me wrong, I loved to swim and passed the life saving course from the Red Cross, but I didn't like starting out the day with a wet head LOL.
@tends2dogs I had shoulder length straight hair, but I really don't remember what it looked like after swimming. My bathing cap must have kept it somewhat dry.
I grew up in farm country so most of my swimming was in irrigation canal swimming holes or when we would frequently sneak off to the river to swim (and fortunately lived to talk about it). So to have a nice, big clean swimming pool was like heaven to me. My love of swimming outweighed caring how my hair looked. And I really loved to swim (and still do). When I was a junior and senior we had swimming in the afternoon, but freshman and sophomores had to swim in the mornings.

None of the above. I have to say that in 1972 the year that I graduated it was a time generally when kids weren't as into those sorts of things. In addition, out of a class of over 700 at a large suburban high school only 100 students attended the prom.
It was a time of what is now called classic rock, student unrest and many being if only in dress a hippie. It just wan't cool to be a cheerleader.
ETA: There was one girl in particular that was either a year older or younger (I can't remember) that was a star majorette! She would do solo twirls with her battons (double) lighting them on fire....it was pretty impressive!

No - he had moved away & was living with someone else. Then his Mom got cancer, he was her only child , so he moved back to be there for her, but the girlfriend didn't come with him.

Someone else who graduated in 73 was telling me about high school in those times.I'm glad I was in HS before then. I graduated in '66.

I graduated in 1973 and it was a good time to be young. The social issues that arose during that time did a lot to form my ideals and opinions.the music was the best ever. The clothes and jewelry were cool.
I loved the hippy look and I was on the pom squad my junior year. That squad was a good mix of different groups in the school.

@tends2dogs The audience is the most important ...without them there is no need for the show.
