I got the windstorm this morning...Unexpected. I didn't have anything outside ready for this (umbrellas up, for example).  Everything outside fared okay, except for the mess.  One of the cats didn't go back to sleep after the wind died down, so I had an early start to my day.

Then once we were all up, the thunderstorms hit,as well as some rain.  Storms returned this afternoon.  The outside temps were once again, 10 degrees over the predicted temps.  I feel like I'm living in the tropics, not the Central coast.    Very unusual weather here.

I agree @september !  I'm also sick of sleeping with only a sheet.  Even opening the windows doesn't help much.

WILD LIGHTENING AND THUNDER, OVER AND OVER.

SOME RAIN.

We didn't have much rain directly overhead, but many nearby microclimates did. Also quite a few local random lightning strikes that started several fires, but all were quickly put out.

It's harvest time around here and large numbers of people are out in the fields every day. I hope that their employers don't force them to stay out when there are lightning strikes. OTOH, in many of the fields there isn't any shelter to get under.

@Moonchilde

It's 75 degrees here so far, at least that's a small drop in temp.  We kept the fan on all night again because it was so warm in the house, and we had to close the bedroom window because of the rain which came down pretty hard a few times.

You're right, and the fields from SF down through Half Moon Bay and on down south are, for the most part, in direct sun, also.

I haven't read back on this thread recently, @Noel7, but I'm wondering if you checked out the Mitsubishi AC units in preparation for the next sizzling temps.

@tansy

Hi tansy, I did !  We have an historical home and there would be problems with installation here.  I will keep looking.  I was in an accident last week and I am on hold for now... from pretty much everything.

Hi again @MaRina

I think it was the restaurant that overlooks the SF beach, an incredible view 😃

We haven't had a lot of fog lately and that's a worry, also the reason it's been so increasingly hot over the past couple of years.

I hope your trip to Pier 39 is totally enjoyable for you!

@Noel7  Hi Noel, it was in between the Fitzgerald tide pool and half moon bay. That was such a fun day, we need to go again.

Hope you're doing better.

It sprinkled here for two seconds about 4 and 10 pm last night. Only a high of 94 today....Fall can't get here soon enough!

@Noel7 We are pushing 80, but it's supposed to drop 10 degrees the rest of the week.

Pics from the Capitola festival. The seagull WAS that close to me. Alas for him I only had coffee - but it was brown sugar cinnamon coffee ❤️

That last picture is so appealing, @Moonchilde.  I can't remember the last time we were in Capitola.

Oh!! @MaRina  Do you mean the seafood restaurant, small, with fresh caught crabs, clams and fish?

OMG, I love that place, I can't think of the name at the moment, but it's right on the water.  Barbara's Fish Shack???
