That view, @tansy, is considered the quintessential postcard view of Capitola - except usually with sun, lol.

There is the view from the bridge if you do a 180 -

I haven't read back on this thread recently, @Noel7, but I'm wondering if you checked out the Mitsubishi AC units in preparation for the next sizzling temps.

@tansy

Hi tansy, I did !  We have an historical home and there would be problems with installation here.  I will keep looking.  I was in an accident last week and I am on hold for now... from pretty much everything.

That's a shame.  I hope you can find a solution, @Noel7.

Your husband had a fall, so you decided to get in on the invalid action, huh?  Hope you're both well on the mend.

Hi again @MaRina

I think it was the restaurant that overlooks the SF beach, an incredible view 😃

We haven't had a lot of fog lately and that's a worry, also the reason it's been so increasingly hot over the past couple of years.

I hope your trip to Pier 39 is totally enjoyable for you!

@Noel7  Hi Noel, it was in between the Fitzgerald tide pool and half moon bay. That was such a fun day, we need to go again.

Hope you're doing better.

It sprinkled here for two seconds about 4 and 10 pm last night. Only a high of 94 today....Fall can't get here soon enough!

Oh!! @MaRina  Do you mean the seafood restaurant, small, with fresh caught crabs, clams and fish?

OMG, I love that place, I can't think of the name at the moment, but it's right on the water.

LOL, I can't remember the name either. Great food and view.

When our son is on leave we should take him and his gf there. When we went gosh about 7 years ago he didn't like fish much he does now Woman LOL

He had the fall this time too, I was next to him and he fell, full length, on me.  Unbelievable.  He only had a couple of bruises.  The concussion had me in a spin for a few days, much better now but still getting headaches.

I'm doing well with the walker, my daughter tricked it out for me, I now have hot pink grips and a matching bag on the side.

I have pretty bad cuts and tears on my right arm, I have no idea how that happened, but they got infected.  I'm now on antibiotics which are helping... it was pretty gross.

It's such a tiny place, but it has "beach town charm." Growing up in SoCal, I have spent many happy days in various beach cities. Something about Capitola reminds me of a mini Laguna Beach.

The only bummer? There is only one actually really good restaurant (Shadowbrook) and it's only open for dinner whereas I only am there at lunch or brunch time. The other Esplanade restaurants (see photo) are tourist-expensive, have disinterested staff and mediocre food & drinks. They are "ok" but not more. There's a nice-looking Italian spot in town that's only open for dinner as well :-(

Oh no, @Noel7.  What a total fiasco☹️  He must have felt awful about it, even though it wasn't his fault.  What a wonderful daughter you two have.  I can just imagine your tricked-out walker😄

@tansy

We used to go there several times a year when DD was a kid.  She often brought a friend for swimming and exploring, it was a great place for kids and well known for fantastic little restaurants.

I love the pictures too!

@Noel7, I meant to send you condolences on your accident last week....and now dealing with an infection in the heat???? I think it's time for you and yours to go on vacay to mountains somewhere!

I'm sorry the Mitsubishi idea didn't work....but another idea is just to retrofit your house with central AC. I know people who have done that in two hundred year old homes before....

The curators of museums in "Frisco must be going nuts with what to do with oil paintings and textiles in that sustained heat.

Everything on tv and in print concerns hurricanes and we aren't hearing much at all about West Coast happenings.....what's the outlook? Are you locked in a high pressure/heat dome? What's happening to the winds off the Pacific?

I am still dragging being almost two days without AC: you are California Strong!

Hugs,
