You are correct ..... with an average price of $5,000 per airline ticket and $10k spending money, that is probably about $20k per employee .... not outrageous for a "parting gift", whether they stay in the job or not.
Does anyone know who bought the Spanx Company from Blakely?
@Tinkrbl44 it's in the NY Post article who bought it. Look it up.

@Tinkrbl44 Absolutely! Yes. They'd rather have cash.

@Pearlee PR concerns do not end when you sell a company. If anything, they might become even more critical.

@Goldengate8361, I believe there was a purpose to the airline tickets rather than cash. She wanted to provide them the means of having an experience, something to actually remember, and money to help enrich that experience.
I think it was an extremely generous gesture, not something she needed to do, and feel there should be no negative connotations attached.

@Etoile308 I agree 100%. People in these forums can put a negative spin on everything, even something joyous. How sad.

I feel like Spanx are used mainly for cellulite and not overweight people.
It's really strange, but so many people have cellulite today that didn't back when I was younger.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Even young girls with no extra weight on their bodies have cellulite.
You would see obese people with cellulite, but sometimes even those people didn't have it with all the extra weight.
It's weird. Has anyone ever noticed that?
Underalls were popular when I was in my 20's, but they were for pantylines (undies) not showing. Not cellulite.
Sarah herself was slim, but used to talk about lumps and bumps.

@Lucky Charm It is also used a lot for smoothing so bra straps and backs and bottom ridge of bras don't show, so pantylines don't show, etc. I think it is used for lots of things besides cellulite.

@Tinkrbl44 Spanx was acquired by Blackstone (a global investment company).
I was not questioning Blakeley's "generosity"........just mentioning that it was NOT such an "extraordinary" amount, considering the value of the company. Some of the posters were trying to put "words in my mouth", which wasn't my point. I also think people don't realize that the recipients have to pay TAX on that (!) di

Not a fan of Blackstone, but my first thought was that her new competitor had bought her out to eliminate competition.

Yes, she said she went to North Carolina and called upon hosiery mills there to invest in her product and to help to get it manufactured.
