Absolutely. Broke my heart to have to tell my son the truth about it when he was in the third grade but children were talking in his class so it was time. He cried. Then he said, Hey you got me the pool table ect...... on down through the years of what was under the tree. Got a big kiss and thank you. He and my DIL have not decided what to do with 2 and half year old granddaughter yet. This year does not really matter but next year will tell the tale one way or another.

I absolutely did and those were the most magical years of my life.

I didn't believe because there was a Santa in every department store in town.

You mean that I got up and lost all that sleep for 18 years for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course there is a Santa Claus . . . first you believe in him....then you become HIM!

of course i did. when i applied logic, at whatever age the lightbulb went on, i don't remember being disappointed. there was still my younger sister to think of and her being able to continue to believe. i think that was a rite of passage - after a wonderful period of living in a bit of a fantasy world which too few kids have these days. sadly. oh, i never thought my parents "lied"to me. i got it. i still do.

Of course I did; I'm 56 so I grew up in an era when childhood beliefs lasted a little longer than they do now. I think it was the same with me as it was with my own children. I believed in Santa until I was 8 or so and then for a year or two, I kinda believed. I had my doubts. By 10, I knew there was no Santa Claus. My parents never forced the belief on me and I didn't do that with my kids either.

I've posted this before . . .
When my children decided they “knew,” they told me, so we had this discussion.
My son said, “Give me your keys so we can open the trunk!”
“OK,” I said, “but let me tell you about Santa Claus. He delivers your presents and fills your stockings. If you do not believe in him, you gifts will be put under the tree but there will be no new presents or a filled stockings on Christmas morning!”
Guess how long it took them to decide that they did believe!
(Gifts we bought for each other were put under the tree.)
Santa brought Christmas and filled stockings as long as they lived at home.

Yes, I believed in Santa...the Tooth Fairy...the Easter Bunny.....and even the Lucky Charms elf!
And I'm so glad I did.

I grew up believing in Santa as a child, as well as being taught the real meaning of Christmas...like every child whose imagination is allowed to enjoy this innocent time of life, I grew to learn the truth concerning Santa.... however, it was such a beautiful time of my life, that i continued the tradition with my child, and she in turn with hers... I love those innocent years they have the gift of imagination we enjoy .
