I received this from Sam's some time ago.

Help Available:

While the primary focus is on Scan and Go, associates will be available to assist customers who need help with the technology or prefer alternative options.

I gave my 83 year old neighbor a ride to Sam's and she loves the scan and go. She had the app on her phone and took off shopping.

My 83 year old mom got me started on it three years ago. She was raving about how easy it was.

I am wondering if in the future the stores won't have scanners imilar to those scanners we use for Bridal or Baby registry's?   Tou sign up, get a number. Then when you go in, pick up a scanner , put your PIN in, and have at it. Easy there.  Maybe that is the wave of the future.  Now all they need is to make businesses and register able to work and stay in business when power goes out.

@shoekitty

we have this feature at my GIANT grocery store in the baltimore area. i load my items into bags in my cart as i shop and scan each bar code. the checkout person them just puts the scanner into their register and rings me up. so fast and convenient and i dont have to load my items onto the belt. i have been doing this for over five years now.

Re: SAM'S CLUB - Changes coming

one thing I know as,fact .   In many cases the cost cutting at the expense of employees is no surprise.  The bottom line is pay for corporate, CEO's and bonuses are cut when wages and benefits go up.  During Covid prices increased at first because of supply and demand, because of shut downs.  CEOs bonus were stripped or reduced.  Or they were pulled from loans they got from Covid relief.  Now, because cost stayed up, they never lowered back to pre Covid prices they have to cut somewhere. Since some businesses managed to survive with employee cuts, and getting people to work at home.  They will continue to have the work done with less people, make more money and corporate still gets huge raises and bonuses. Many businesses here liked workers working from home.  So they sold huge buildings, have workers at home and save all around. Look at wages oand bonuses of some CEO , they have only increased while worker hours decreased.  Think of the money saved by a business selling building, no janitorial, gas/electric bills, insurance, etc. that's a lot of savings.  Workers wages are pretty set, their benefits cut. Profits go up, and they always go to the top

This is a step to getting rid of physical money and only having a digital currency. Nothing could go wrong with that...

I remember when restaurants went to virtual menus and you had to scan the QR code. I found it annoying. Even my grown children found it annoying. I don't think this trend was very popular because I haven't been to a restaurant in quite a while that you have to order on your device.

Re: SAM'S CLUB - Changes coming

When a friend told me that I didn't have to pay hundreds for a smart phone that she had bought one

from Walmart for 129 . I thought I could handle that, but, my handy man said he paid 800 for his ! Why I wasn't about to get one.

So, today, I went to Walmart and stayed with Straight Talk just got one for 99 that had the scan and go feature. They set it up for me, inserted the SIM card and I came home and set my apps up on the check in screen. Called Straight Talk told them to keep me on auto-renewal. I had installed 'Smart Switch' last yr. so it  transferred all my pics, contacts, etc. for the walmart girl. Saved time .

So, I'm back to Sam's can't wait to try it. Went ahead and installed the Walmart app too while I was at it.

I use my phone to make calls, watch youtube, read the news, and take some pictures. Never have tried to learn to use it to make payments.

Re: SAM'S CLUB - Changes coming

I gather from reading from some comments above, if an item isnt bagged, it just might cause problems, (ex: milk example?) Where does one get these bags?  TIA

in my sams club and my local grocery store, NOTHING has to be bagged @JoyFilled Warrior . as long as it is scanned it can sit in your cart and later then transferred to your car. you CAN bring your own bags or grab boxes there if you like to make it easier.
