Re: SAFETY ON THE NEW FORUMS

@magicmoodz - You should read their privacy policy.  I did, and it scared the daylights out of me.  It is truly legendary in its intrusiveness, intention to sell and share your data and posts, even indicating the intent and ability to geolocate members whenever deemed necessary.

@magicmoodz  Absolutely 100% NO!! We would never do that. We are your friends from this forum. We just wanted to recreate the community we had here & make it better.For that matter you can say that about the mods here.

As far as the concern about individual privacy . Everyone can decide for themselves the level of privacy they want & lock it in through their personal accounts.

I do applaud everyone involved for their efforts.

I have to agree.  Basically you are sharing private information with people you do not know, hoping they are all honest.

If someone wants to find out about you that bad, they can.  It won't do any good to delete your account and start over on the proboards.   I also don't think the moderators over there will be selling email addresses or doing anything unethical.

I am pretty sure if one is posting anywhere on the internet, your info is out there.

@NickNack pro boards doesn't require a legit ph # but to get a different email just for that you can use a fake name but a valid phone number is needed and that is where anyone with the knowhow can get anyone's private information!  Maybe it is unlikely to happen but at least here QVC has more protections in place.  Knowing 2 people that it happened to over a difference of opinion on a private forum is creepy!

Re: SAFETY ON THE NEW FORUMS

I'm not really worried about my email address over at the new board.  We all have an online prescence somewhere.

I'm very shocked at what people will reveal about themselves here.  Just this week, I saw people exchanging phone numbers and other private info.  People seem to forget that not only do members of this board read here, there are thousands of people online that read here.

Posters have revealed the name of their high school, the year they graduated, the town they live in, where they work, and various other things.

I am here for now, but not sure about the future, I may lurk over on the new board, but may not sign up, at least not yet.

@NicksmomESQ

I hope I didn't sound accusatory in any way. I was posting a hypothetical to determine if it were possible.

Let me express gratitude to you and all the volunteers who stepped forward to give QVC posters a place to land in such short order. I am sure you have worked tirelessly and those efforts are not going unnoticed!

Thank you!
