Fortunately we have people like Abbey Dagastino that really exemplifies the Olympic spirit and brings some honor back to the US by helping Hamblin. She could have just left her and continued running but she didn't. Most everyone else would have.
It would be nice if the media focused on those positive things rather than continuing to re-hash the Lochte incident but the media likes the drama of negativity over positivity.

Seriously. This boorish behaviour of Mr Lochte will hopefully cost him all future lucrative endorsements. The kids with him on this prank looked to be teenagers. What is Mr Lochte's excuse?

I am one who never believed athletes should be held as role models for our children but that is just me. However, I still think they should be, oh I don't know, MATURE and RESPECTFUL to others but that has nothing to do with being a role model and just common courtesty, common sense and smart, especially when you essentially make a living on sponsors that expect you to behave yourself in public.

@HappyDaze with all of the wonderful accomplishments our athletes have achieved in these Olympics I think that moment will always stay with me as it was one of the most unselfish acts I have ever seen in my life and you just don't see that kind of decency anymore. God bless both of them . . .

@momtochloe 100% agree! I actually teared up a little when I saw that.

@HappyDaze I'm actually teary eyed right now . . . to see a world class athlete that has trained so hard and given up so much to get where she is turn around and lend a hand to a fellow competitor just blows me away in this sometimes win-at-all-cost society we find ourselves in. I'll never forget her kindness as long as I live.

I agree 10000%, with the poster who said could you imagine how it would be covered if it was the basketball team.
That is a true real comment. I have not heard the negative outrage, or spin as taken for "others", no mention of taking medals away, no bringing up his father's history, his mother history, his childhood, no congressional investigation.
Just look at the trends list, it is at the bottom because the media is being much kinder in this case.
Yes, it is being covered by the media but not in an aggressive way as other events, no media petitions, no jail sentence in Rio. It is being covered like, he lied, oh well, he is not that smart, etc.

What's so special about the US Olympic Basketball team?
I don't care if is swimmers, soccer, tennis, bob sledding, skiing or basketball; if you're a liar, a cheat, a shmuck... you deserve to be called out on it and held accountable for your pathetic actions.

@momtochloe wrote:I ran across this article too late to catch the preview of the Matt Lauer interview scheduled for Monday but these pictures really grind my gears as NBC sent a private plane to fly him and his girlfriend to NYC to try and defend his pretty much indefensible behavior:
He's only sad because it finally seeped into his noggin that his endorsement deals were dropping faster than that sign he ripped off the wall at that gas station in Rio . . . sigh.
What really irritated me was that he danced around culpability, saying it was his immature behavior because he hadn't been drinking before and had too much... He spoke as if his behavior were separate from him! He embarrassed the USA, his team mates, the Olympics, and Rio! Ok, he was a drunken baby! I have never known any drunks who were decent people when sober, to vandalize anything or leave and let others take the fall! I hope he's banned for life! I wouldn't feel that way if his apology had been heart felt and he had taken full responsibility for his actions! What a loser! They should also take his medal away!
